Ran Ambleside to Grassmere route of UT55K. Found some of the sections pretty tough, esp from Glenridding to Grizedale. Most of that section was unrunable and it seemed to be climbing for miles, then the decent into Grasmere was slow too. Av about 12 min/mile, started to bonk after 2.45 hours so last hour was good training. I bought a new pair of trainers from Pete Bland sports: Scott Supertrak. Tried Salomen, but found toe box too restricting. The Scott are really comfortable, aggressive tread but run well on tarmac. Unfortunately my Rt big toe was hitting the front of the trainer on decents so need change the lacing.
Althought there are some slow sections there are plenty of fast runable sections, mainly on tarmac
