Easy run 12:08 [2] 1.62 mi (7:29 / mi)
shoes: Adidas Boston

Cold (1 degree), dry, strong winds (40mph). Just had 10min warm up, with full body cover to gauge how cold it was. Decided to race with gloves, vest and shorts, like I did at Helsby. Legs felt good and refreshed, was a bit stiff after 3 hour drive
11 AM

Race race (St Valentines 30K) 1:56:19 [4] 30.0 km (3:53 / km)
shoes: Adidas Boston

Wow it was a bit undulating! lots of climbs, wind was really strong at times. Luckily I didn't get cold. After 3 miles I got into a group of 4 and we worked together until about 18K where I pulled away with 1 other runner. I felt like I was running hard the whole way, had some recovery on the downhill. Left side felt sore towards the end.
My nutrition was a bit of a disaster- my running belt rubbed and annoyed me, I was wearing gloves and didn't want to loose concentration and try and get a gel. So I ran to about 24K, at which point I thought I'm starving so I forced a gel down me- Felt better straight away and managed to keep the pace . Had another gel at 28K. In my training runs i will practice with gels and wear the Salomon belt instead.
Pleased with result, it's wear I want to be, great training session. Will take this week pretty easy and do lots of S & C. Im on hols in Ireland so will have plenty of time for training and recovery.
