Race race (NYM marathon) 4:11:59 [3] 28.99 mi (8:42 / mi) +1203m 7:42 / mi
shoes: S-Lab ultra 2nd pair

Enduranclife event. Distance was slightly different- I was surprised that it totalled 29 miles! Had gel every 20mins (75mg caffeine every 3rd gel). I made the mistake in carrying 10 gels thinking I would finish within 3:45. But nav was fine, followed all the signs and it was 29 miles, bit daft really.
Paul missed a loop out after 3-4 miles (followed the 10K route). I was surprised to pass him at 27 miles as he started after me!
I ran well within myself, going out at 7.15 pace, pace felt fine. Some of the climbs and descents were tough, lots of steps.
There was a big climb at 20miles, then the next mile was tough under foot: lots of mud, legs felt heavy.
Had last gel at about 23 miles, felt a bit empty at the end.
Kit wise: wore light t-shirt with arm warmers. I thought the weather was near ideal: was a bit chilly, wind was light ( bit strong at times, but not a problem). It was v.misty ant start and finish, but kept dry for most of the race. Wore S-lab ultras which gave enough grip, felt light and fast, were good on the road as well.
Afterwards, legs felt fairly fresh, no soreness, no blisters

Easy run 1:00:00 [3] 7.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Kayano 24 reflective

Ran easy around Mersey for an hour. My left hammy was a bit sore, ran ok, but it was pulling slightly. Will step up hamstring curls on swiss ball- it usually solves the problem. I do feel fresh and rested, just need to stretch the hammy.
