Running 28:00 [3] 3.3 mi (8:29 / mi)
shoes: PI Syncro Seek II

Beautiful morning along the towpath Real busy along the stretch from the lift bridge to Fairport Road in preparation for the regatta.

Hockey 1:30:00 [3]

Was about a 3 intensity until I wiped out trying to keep the puck in our zone and landed hard with my elbow under my ribs. Turned into a 5 intensity as I could barely breathe for the next 5 minutes. It still hurts to take a full breath even as I type this an hour later. Sleeping tonight should be interesting......

I felt a little more comfortable out there but certainly did not play any better. I had a good time though.

So if Albert Pujols is hitting .400 on the last day of the season should he sit for the last game to preserve his .400 season? Although in my case it is more like Mario Mendoza trying to stay over .200, the question was posed to me about the Sprint Series standings. If I had not run, my two scores + averages from MD and CS duties would have kept me in first place. I couldn't not run since we were there with the kids and ultimately I was glad I did run. I went late and saw that Chad and Rob had pretty good times that would be hard to beat. That probably helped since it kept me motivated to run hard the entire time. Even with 2 small bobbles, I managed to stay in front by a minute or so.

jogged the white course with Bryn. She still needs the map oriented, but does pretty good once that is done for her.

Got back from a planning board meeting downstate at about 3:00 AM so I took my time this morning getting ready for work and got a run in. And since Kameron didn't get called in to sub we were able to run together. From home we just went out the towpath to Bushnell's basin and back.

It was a busy day, but I am glad I took the time out to head down to Rattlesnake. I was not completely happy with my physical performance, but I can't complain navigationally. Really only made one poor route choice and executed the others quite well.

#1 - Started up throught the field, then hit the second field and road bend failry close to the line. Followed the edge of the light green around till I found a significant enough re-entrant. Hesitated a bit on the swamy area above the control

#2 - probably my worst execution of the day - dropped too many contours down the hill before getting a good heading. Was able to use the square area of light green to get me back on a good line.

#3 - Good line, but got pushed left by some dark green at the edges of the field. I found the control fairly quickly, so I wont complain about there barely being a feature.

#4 - Similar route required for a leg on the Ultra Long course that I really screwed up - so I was determined to do better. Unfortunately, I got sucked into the green slash below the road and probably lost some time.

#5 - easy line up the creek

#6 - up the creek, along the old hedge row, onto the trail.

#7 - this one could have been bad as I was unsure about my location as I neared the circle. I caught sight of the edge of the clearing just to the NW of the control and was able to complete the leg with no significant losses

#8 - I probably stuck too close to the bottom of the hill leaving #7 rather than taking a direct line but I wanted to hit the water stop

#9 - The Hill

#10 - hooked onto the road/trail rather than taking the more direct line through the tall (and by then very wet) grass.

Hockey 1:45:00 [3]

Thomas Creek - Beginner League - my fist crack at organized hockey. Even though my skating skills are pretty good and I have played some pickup hockey I have never really participated in anything organized. So it was quite an eye-opener. Just knowing where to be on the ice in a particular situation and knowing when to change lines were the biggest challenges. Of course after 2 - 3 minutes shift time I am totally winded and need to change - which fits in nice with what the other guys expect.
