Running 1:42:49 [4] 11.0 mi (9:21 / mi)
shoes: PI - SyncroFloat

Last long run before the 1/2-mary in a couple weeks. Kameron's Dad drove all the way from Indiana to surprise her and stay for the week. I think he knew coming into this that he would be tapped for babysitting duty at least once. So I had Kameron to keep me company along the relatively uninteresting run on the towpath from Fairport to Embankment Park. I felt a whole lot better than the last time I did this run a few weeks ago I think the rain and softer path conditions helped quite as bit. I am not going to make it in under 2 hours, which was my goal when I signed up, but it looks like Kameron might.

More Mendon. Ran a course and stopped along the way to tweak a couple locations and make a couple field notes for the map.

The bugs were a non-factor - even when stopped.

Running 42:00 [3] 4.8 mi (8:45 / mi)
shoes: PI - SyncroFloat

Run with Kameron while the kids rode their bike on the towpath. This actually worked out pretty well, except for having to fend off request to stop for ice cream or play at the park.

Running 1:00:00 [3] 6.8 mi (8:49 / mi)
shoes: PI - SyncroFloat

At least I managed to get one decent run in during the course of the vacation. Mostly around the camp roads.

Hiking 1:00:00 [1]

Mount Baker - Saranac Lake. Again with the kids so it was a fairly relaxed pace.

Running 20:00 [3]

quick jaunt around the campground

Biking 15:00 [3]

Orienteering (Course Setting) 45:00 [3]

Set a course at the campground after working on a rough map for the last couple years. 8 controls - white though Orange difficulty. I used bananas and surprisingly we had one stolen less than 2 hours after I set it out. I think there were 6 groups that went out this year.

Hiking 45:00 [2]

Mt Arab with a fire tower at the top. Fairly steep but short

Updates to Mendon - knew some discrete area that needed work, so was able to get some higher level effort in.

Running 1:30:00 [3] 9.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: NB N-Fuse

Another training run for the 1/2 marathon. This was a little better and the breeze helped counteract the humidity a bit. About 2/3 of the way in the knees really started bothering me and we stopped a bit short of the 10 mile mark (I think - neither of us had GPSs so I need to check distance)

Running 1:00:00 [3] 6.4 mi (9:22 / mi)
shoes: NB N-Fuse

Took the day off to get our camper in shape and inspected before our vacation. After struggling with the electrical system to get it to a point where it would pass, Kameron and I managed a run. We tried to treat it as a training run for the Rochester 1/2 Marathon, but the heat and humidity forced us to keep it shorter than we wanted.

More of Mendon. Things are shaping up nicely.

Biking 2:28:00 [4] 31.0 mi (4:46 / mi) +2800m 3:44 / mi

Ride for Independance - from Onanda Park on Canandaigua Lake. I did this ride 2 years ago with a Mtn. bike and it nearly did me in - however, this year Kameron manged to get me a road bike from one of her tri-buddies and it turned it into a fantastic ride. There was still 2800 feet of climb, (Onanda-Canandaigua, Bristol Center, Bristol Springs and back) but I can say it was an enjoyable ride. It has been a long time since I have been on a road bike, so I think the hardest part was feeling comfortable going down some of the large hills at +30mph.
