Hockey 1:30:00 [3]

Tried defense for the first time - which was a bit of a shock as I found myself in direct line of some pretty hard (and high) shots. Time to make sure my equipment is fitting right...

Had a new guy tonight who seemed to think this was a hitting league. It also didn't help that he was large and slightly out of control. He only got me once and not too bad. My guess is that he won't be asked back.

Note

Taking the rib injury off since it didn't slow me down for hockey. I still don't want to fall on it, but I am hardly noticing it any more.

Hockey 1:45:00 [4]

Thomas Creek. I agonized about missing the meet a Rotary, but had not been home in 4 weekends, and was worn out from a weekend of Scouts at Culter (which should have a map update and meet). Anyway I forced myself to go to hockey since I had missed 3 weeks with the ribs and out of town commitments. Glad I went. I felt really great and managed a goal.

Saw Sergey leaving the rink - he must be in the intermediate league.

Running 28:50 [3] 3.45 mi (8:21 / mi)
shoes: NB N-Fuse

Turk Hill -Perinton Park loop. Felt pretty good considering the pounding I imposed on myself over the weekend. Knee was grumbling just a bit.

Elliptical 30:00 [3]

Tried a bit of light core work in the weight room afterwards but the upper body still complains a bit.

Orienteering 1:40:43 [5] *** 6.9 km (14:36 / km)

EMPO Moreau - Red X - US Champs. A very humbling experience to say the least. However, more from a physical standpoint than a navigational one. Yes, I had a couple 10 minute nav. errors and another route choice error that cost me another 10 minutes, but take away the errors and I am still way behind some guys I once could keep up with. I know the terrain was rough on all, but I just felt slow.

Fortunately, I still look forward to the next meet at Moreau and the next meet in general, and I am trying to use this as some incentive.

Oh yeah, I need to learn to pace count and be able to effectively use it every once in a while to keep from making the 10 minute errors.

Elliptical 30:00 [3]

more elliptical, but less pain.

Elliptical 35:00 [2]

Not much but needed to get something in with my ribs feeling a bit better. What I can understand is how I managed two elliptical sessions last week.

Pain is almost gone, but still weak on my side. Hopefully there won't be too much pain this weekend after full exertion at the EMPO meet.

Hiking 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 mi (12:00 / mi)

Castle Rock - More than an hour, but it was a pretty easy hike w/o much elevation change. Even the wind and chill could not take too much away from the view of Blue Mountain Lake.
