Running 40:01 [3] 5.1 mi (7:51 / mi)

Turk Hill - tow path - Perinton Park loop with a small loop at the end that took me up the South Main Street hill. The temperature really helped - it was the best running weahter in quite while.

Mendon Ponds - Semi-Permanent - Green. Slightly different than the course set up last Sunday, but same general route. Only a couple controls were the same. I came straight from work so I didn't have my contacts or a map case. Neither really cost me noticable time, but I was definitely worrying about handling the map so it didn't disintergrate and couldn't see as well with glasses - they tend to fog up and interfere with peripheral vision. The only reason I got contacts was becuase of an O-event 2 years ago at Irondequoit - East where it downpoured and I could not see anything. I was off the map for 45 of the 60 minutes. Anyway, I was able to run at about the same pace as last Sunday and for the most part the controls were still well marked. I still managed to overrun 4 controls by up to 100 yards. Actual distance run was 6.5 km.

Mendon Ponds - informal event set by Rick and Linda as they hosted Anders Bjorkland on his way out to the 1000-Day event. I had no real problems with the controls and the running went well - but I had some psychological help. Coming out of a dogleg at #6, Mike was coming into the control (he started after me). With the next leg being a long trail run I thought for sure he would catch me. So that spurred me on a bit. I then ran with Nate for a bit at the end and was able to keep up with him. There were three controls at the end which we attacked differently - but we both wound up getting there at the same time. Overall a nice get together with much talk about the 1000-day and terrain other than what we normally see in the northeast. Actual distance run - 6.3 km
