Orienteering 1:30:46 [5] *** 7.8 km (11:38 / km)
spiked:14/17c

CNYO - A-meet - Classic - Lime Hollow - I thought this was the toughest day technically and I am still not sure how much my fatigue impacted my decisions. Certainly the first mistake right at #2, which cost me probably close to 5 minutes, wasn't becuase I was tired. The other two mistakes were not as bad and were just bad attacks. The best part (really) was the 'crossable' swamp right before #16, which had me up to the waist. I got a bit spooked at how deep I was and used a lot of energy getting out as quickly as I could. It was still the right route choice. However, it was the first time I did a leech check after a race. Overall a great weeked at a well run event.

Event: CNYO A meet

Orienteering (Sprint) 18:35 [4] *** 2.5 km (7:26 / km)
spiked:13/14c

CNYO A-meet Sprint - Hope Lake. Not too technical and the open run from the start really helped me get a feel for the scale early on. Only real troubles were Control #5 where I went out of my way to check a control that wasnt mine and having to tie my shoe between 7 and 8. Got into a train of 4 others who were obviously running same course. Couldn't separate and would up getting passed by all 4 on last 2 legs. Found myself really losing contact with map when running with others - fortunately it didn't bite me on this course - I was just slower.

Orienteering 55:36 [5] *** 5.4 km (10:18 / km)
spiked:18/19c

CNYO - A-meet - Middle. Fortunately I didn't have to ask for a new start time after locking my keys in the car (which is becoming a bad habit for me at O meets) because the tow truck showed up in about 20 minutes. The only thing I learned was that I was foolish for wearing shorts. I found myself altering my route slightly becuase of the underbrush. Still, probably my best race of the weekend.

Walking 32:00 [3] 2.2 mi (14:33 / mi)

Walk at lunch

Running 30:42 [3] 3.81 mi (8:03 / mi)

Hip still sore but getting better. Pace was a bit low as I hit the three biggest hills I could find. I was trying to see how well my new toy (Forerunner 205) was working for elevation. So far it has been excellent on with horizontal control , but not on elevation. The hills show up but it seems like if there is a signal problem the elevation gets thrown off much more than the horizontal position.
