Note

Running race 22:50 [5] 5.0 km (4:34 / km)
shoes: PI - SyncroFloat

Jingle Bell 5K - Brighton, NY - I went into the race with the 'training run' mentality but felt pretty good and wound up with a decent time (for me). Kameron ran with me for most of the time and helped me keep my pace up. At the end she just couldn't stand it and used her much better kick to beat me by a few seconds. The weather was about as good as could be expected with the temp about normal and a lot of sun. The wind was the worst part...

The event seemed a bit disorganized when we first got there, but everyone manged to get through the registration line, the start was close to on-time and there were a good amount of volunteers. And the coffee was great too! So all in all a decent morning.

Orienteering race 45:00 [1] 2.5 km (18:00 / km)

ROC Scrooge-O. Camp Eastman. More like a walk in the woods, but the kids ran for at least a portion of the evening. We didn't get to the far ends of the park so our strategy toward the end was to just lurk near the controls. Tyler was actually enjoying getting to be 'The Scrooge' and we managed to get a pretty full punch card right at the end of the race.

Orienteering (Mapping) 1:15:00 [1] 2.7 km (27:47 / km)

More mapping at Powder Mills. Was just about as nice as yesterday - except there were people around today...and one group was nice enough to unleash their 3 rotweilers. I am definitely not a dog person and when one was lingering around my area when his owner was half way across the park really had me worked up. I was definitely intimidated and thinking about who I could call to complain. Good thing the taxpayers aren't footing the bill for the county "dog parks" (which are still not in-place!).
