Pick up Red/Blue controls. Walking in the woods. Went around the loop backwards from when setting the controls, still pretty interesting. Map may be off a little south of Blue-11/Red-9/Green-5. That may contribute to why the Grn runners had so much trouble with the control whereas the Blue/Red runners did not. Grn came in from the S whereas Blue/Red came from the NE.
It was a good meet. Everything went well. Times were a bit slow, especially on Grn. Disappointing there weren't more Blue and Red runners (3 and 2 respectively). Interesting/glad to see that Anna (N route), Austin (straight/contour route) and Charlie and Bridge (S. route) respectively took the three different routes on the long 6->7 leg. If you have the legs and skill for it, I still think the straight route is fastest, but in retrospect it's only ~150 m shorter than the S route. Looking at the map it first appears much more shorter than that. But the S route has ~5 contours more climb, but it is a relatively gentle climb. Worst part though is there is no good attack point, so you need to be real confident about when to leave the trail. Orange course was perhaps a little too hard. But the ROTC kids were using that for training (i.e. going out in pairs), so that worked out OK.
