Classic Ski 3:02:00 [3] 21.37 mi (8:31 / mi)
ahr:146 max:170

Busy day, I finally found the time to get my new road bike, which came in last week. So given I had to go down to the hive for that, figured I'd ski at "the gold," which was what it usually is, super high winds, nightmare parking, and insane ski pass prices ($36). Despite that, managed to put in a good ski. Used the intelligrips and basically went hard right from the start. Pushed any easy to steep uphill hard, everything else was easy for recovery. Felt good, but by the end I was sick of pushing the drag of the skis. Coverage was good, just a few bare spots, and unfortunately the Jenny Creek trail was not open. I keep thinking I'll go 3.5 hours, but by 3 I've always had enough (hit all the trails multiple times and quite tired).

Note

The women who did the bike fitting wondered if I was student or "teacher" at UNC. I thought, what student could afford this bike? I could only afford it because of insurance money and, its taken now close to 12 years, but I'm finally earning reasonable money for my monastic lifestyle (simple, largely solitary, and frugal). If I lived like a normal U.S. citizen, I couldn't afford the bike without going into debt... But then I remembered I was in the hive, I bet there's plenty of CU students who do have such bikes. At any rate, the gray in my "beard" should have been a hint that I'm more likely faculty than student. If anyone cares, the bike is a Felt FR3 Disc, everyone in the shop like it a lot (of course they are going to be positive) and its insanely light. Maybe I can find an ice free road this next week to give a try.
