Bear Creek Lake State Park, red course. Goal was to run hard and navigate well, which I guess is always the goal. Upon going to 1 I realized I forgot to get a clue sheet to put in my arm band, not a big deal. Everything was perfect through 6, crossing the stream to 7 was a challenge as the bank kept collapsing as I tried to get out of the stream, I twisted my ankle slightly getting close to 7, so I slowed a bit to let it recover. Halfway to 8, things were back to normal so I put on full steam again until along the road when the same (right) ankle completely turned. I face planted and cut up my hands and rolled around on the ground for a bit, then sat on a post while I saw stars and thought I was going to vomit. The stars and nausea went away after a few minutes and figured I better figure out a way to get back to the start. I tried flagging down a car, but they were having none of it. I could see the main building to the NW and figured I should just limp there, which I did. Got there and asked the women behind the desk for a ride back to the start, a pair of rangers showed up in about 10 minutes and gave me a ride back. AP said I was over 4 minutes in the lead after 8 of 22 controls, maybe I shouldn't be so focused on speed if it leads to ankle injuries. This injury was certainly bad and swelled up very large very quickly, but I don't think it was quite as bad as the RMOF sprain (same ankle) in 2016.
