It popped into my head to try a 5km, and I identified the Sheeps Draw trail as the ideal place. Its gently downhill most of the way, no road crossings, and its just slightly longer than 5km. So I did 6x6min headed down and back. About 2-3 minutes rest. Paces were 5:50, 51, 48, 6:08, 06, 14. The first three, if strung together, would be about an 18:00 5km. Not too bad, if I could string such miles together. Headed back was certainly harder, but I was able to push hard the whole way. It was certainly the hardest workout all summer, except that really warm day, maybe. Afterwards, my gut had some problems and I was really tired.
