Road Run 1:00:00 [1] 6.04 mi (9:56 / mi)
ahr:128

Very hot again, waited until 8pm to run and it was still in the lower 90sF. Wore the Muzinos, last time I'll do that, they didn't let me run with a natural stride. My pace was pretty slow, and my breathing was consistent with that, but my HR was high in comparison. I'll attribute it to the heat.

Cyclo-X 2:02:00 [1] 31.25 mi (3:54 / mi)
ahr:123

My house thermometer read a high of 99F today, so training was relegated to the last part of the day. Headed out for a bike ride at 6:30p and it was still oppressive and in the mid-90s, but it certainly cooled throughout the ride. Rode Rt 34 trail to Sheeps Draw to the end of the Poudre, then turned around and did it all again in reverse. Was an inch from killing a prairie dog who had to cross the trail in front of me, was and inch from hitting a rider coming the other way who wasn't paying attention despite two "heads up!" from me, and I saw "thumbs-up" dude who was hiking on the trail with nordic walking poles... interesting.

Road Run 25:00 [1] 2.87 mi (8:43 / mi)
ahr:131

Because of all the closures on the Poudre trail, I couldn't get the distance I wanted in, so upon my return I threw on the Muzinos and a running shirt and headed out for a run. It was better than sitting in the house and sweating. The Muzinos have such a flat heel that my gait is just a bit off, even with the heel risers. At least they didn't stress my Achilles at all. Found a pair of running socks in the Muzinos, who knows how long they've been there, a year or more? Probably the last 1 mile TT at St. Micheal's. Did Glenmere Pk and Xeric garden.

Cyclo-X 1:02:00 [1] 15.5 mi (4:00 / mi)
ahr:125

Return from the "Upstate Distance Mini Training Camp" was suppose to be last night at a reasonable hour, instead it turn into sometime this morning due to bad storms. Honest I don't remember when I went to bed, but it was well after mid-night and sometime before the sun came up, that's all I know. So I figure an easy ride would be best until I'm able to fully catch up on sleep. Drove out to the Learning Center to try to get on a different part of the trail, of course it was closed due to flooding. I went late as it was really hot today. Ended up riding the dirt road, those other roads, the 'burbs, and a bit around the learning center to get the hour. Some yappy dog tried to chase me, I encouraged it, which I think pissed off the owner. It kept up better than I thought. I also saw two wild turkeys on a side walk in the 'burbs, they weren't even spooked by me. And of course there was lots of bugs, my jersey was half zipped as it was hot, which produced the perfect bug catcher. I could feel them all crawling around on me on the drive home. I pulled off the jersey when I got home, leaving a (no exaggeration) pile of bugs on the floor I had to sweep up.

Trail Run 1:38:00 [1] 9.22 mi (10:38 / mi)
ahr:125

Two laps around Nicks Lake. A very nice trail and nearly perfect conditions (no bugs, not too hot, very little mud). The time flew past because the trail was so nice. Fortunate that I got a pit stop after the first lap.
