Classic Ski 2:22:00 [1] 15.61 mi (9:06 / mi)
ahr:125

I was quite tired from yesterday, so a rather uninspired ski. Out on summit I saw the guy (flying past me) with old Subaru Factory team tights from the early 2000 V2ing up some rather steep sections like it was nothing. That guy was good and made me feel quite slow.

Extra ski at DTR after the race. I was cooked and just managed to get through it, I hate the elevation.

Stagecoach classic "30" km (26 km by gps watch as usual). It was cold, -3F at start, something like 10F at finish. So skis felt slow, but no worse than anyone else I think. Because it was so cold, I didn't get the warmup I wanted. Started on the front line, and did OK, and trailed off the lead pack a km in. But I wanted to ski my own race. The lead women went on ahead too, but though maybe I'd stay with her, but didn't. On the first half of the course, was mostly just a bit behind that guy who's friends with Defoe and passed two because they fell (and maybe a couple others). In the second half, heading out to Winter park after coming back around the lodge, I skied strong still (but not overly fast), passed one guy, got caught by one, Defoe's friend blew up on the hill just before leaving the ranch, and skied hard in the woods. Passed back the guy to passed me, and like usual, you think no-ones ahead of you until it opens up over Winter park, and the lead women and another person was not far ahead. I must have took back a minute on the lead women in the second half. Alas, with only the downhill left, which I took easy because the crash last year, I could not close, if only I had one more km. It was as well paced race, but I didn't feel like I was taxed enough at the end, but may be I'm fit and its not so much that I didn't go hard enough? Results nearly identical to last year, except for the lead women.

Classic Ski 2:20:00 [1] 16.41 mi (8:32 / mi)

MLK training mini-camp completed with a ski at the Jack. The soft poling in the tracks continues to be an annoyance. Felt kinda tired, but overall, a nice ski. Very fresh moose tracks along the first part of roller coaster (I would guess the moose was out there during my ski...), other tracks were along the north end of alder by the stream crossing, moose love that area.
