Orienteering 47:44 [4] 5.25 mi (9:06 / mi)
ahr:165 max:181

Round Mt. red course, 8km straight line. It was a good run. I ran a bit conservative to protect the Achilles, i.e. ran a bit flat footed and had no discomfort. #1 I was right next to the right boulder and didn't see it so had to loop around, going to 6 I couldn't see the fence and thought maybe it wasn't there and was concerned about going on to the private property, but eventually saw the fence corner. Going to 10 this guy came out of nowhere (I think I passed him going to 9 but he decided to start hammering) and passed me. I figured either he'll die (if he started behind me) given he was clearly maxed out, or he's phenomenal and I shouldn't worry about him for that reason either. I think ignoring him was a good move as I did pass him back going to 11 and never saw him again (splits will be interesting to see). 13-15 I could not keep a compass line for some reason, was really lucky to see 15 as I wasn't sure where I was exactly, the rock features didn't look right (on control pick up looked at the area again and it still didn't make sense). Going to 17 got off bearing again. Fun course, but we avoided the really challenging rocks in the south.

Visited some more controls, then picked up controls. Heading back I died and started to bonk, fortunately the snacks were still out when I got back and I stuffed my fat little face with junk snacks until recovered.

Road Bike 1:31:00 [2] 23.6 mi (3:51 / mi)
ahr:133

Had to go down to the hive, so took the opportunity to ride part of the iconic Lefthand Canyon. Probably made it close to 3/4 of the way to Ward. The garmin got turned on started kicking around my bag, so by the time I got to it 8 hours later, the battery was almost dead. So I just started 10 min before the turn around so I knew where that was and had some idea of my HR, assumed 150 average going up, 100 going down. I was just getting into level 3 a bit (>160) before the turn around. Turned around at an hour and it was almost exactly twice as fast on the way down. I don't like, nor am I good at the decent. Started at 5600', turned around at 7840'. So about 12 mph average going up, about 24 mph average going down.

Exer-Genie 45:00 [1]
ahr:91

Achilles hurt worse that I thought it would today. That, and it rained most afternoon and evening, mean that I only had limited choices for training. Busted out the Exer-Genie and did that for an hour, but given AHR was so low, did not count full time. Did pushups and chair dips afterwards, not many because I'm weak (10 each). Need to do more of all that.

Trail Run 27:00 [4] 4.59 mi (5:53 / mi)
ahr:172 max:183

Running club. It was cool and a touch of rain, in fact, it rained steady on the cool down. 4x6min, plus 3min at the end. Achilles was just a touch tight, plus I didn't get full nights sleep the last two nights, so I planned on taking it a bit easy. And it kinda seemed like I did, but it was probably just a few seconds off what I would do if feeling strong. It was a long workout so going just a touch slower was in fact the best game plan. Paces were 5:58, 53, 52, 51, 53. The Highschooler was a fair ways ahead on the first two, then he was barely ahead on the next two, the last one I took it easy because I didn't want the hurt the Achilles, it made it through the workout and I didn't want to set myself back.

Road Bike 2:53:00 [1] 48.97 mi (3:32 / mi)
ahr:122

Rode the whole Poudre trail from the house, first time for that. It went well and I didn't start to feel tired until the last half hour. Average speed of 17 mph, not bad given how many times you have to slow down to pass people, cross roads, or go around a tight turn. Nice overcast day, so perfect weather. Couldn't go to the end parking lot because the bridge right before it was gated due to construction.

Note

I'm not sure what I'm doing this year, but I'm at 187 hours already, that's on course for 500 hours. I never kept good logs in college, but that's probably what I was doing in college (never have come close to that since college either). I know once school starts I won't keep it up. But I also don't feel as if I'm really training that much. 9 hours this week, not bad for two days off this week. But all the workouts, except today, was a piece of cake really. Every week is pretty much like that. Hopefully it means faster skiing when the snow flies? Once school starts I do plan to exchange some of the hours for more arm strength (I hope...).

Note

The google gave me the wrong day of the year, I'm on track for 310 hours of training, which is pretty typical. In fact, it suggests I should increase a bit...
