Skate Ski 1:22:00 [1] 11.8 mi (6:57 / mi)
ahr:133

Easy ski at Oberhof Skihalle (www.oberhof-skisporthalle.de/). No GPS so a guess at distance based on 5:10 laps of advertised 1.2 km (approximate average from a handful of laps). Rental equipment of was good enough that it was good ski (Aluminum Leki poles, Salomon 8X skate skis in dire need of waxing). When I arrived two men with German national XC team suits and a coach were testing about 10 pairs of Rossi's with a speed trap. They had cleared out by the time I had changed, but there was a dude with a German biathlon national team suit doing easy laps. I could ski with him a few laps a time without going under when he would catch up. I'm guessing his SpeedMax hole skis were much faster than my rentals. His technique was perfect and tried to study it as much as I could without looking like a weirdo, but he probably noticed. The folks I was with watched for a bit on the balcony and learned that the biathelete's name is Stefan Müller. I can't find him on the internet. Super fun.
