Parked at the end of Sheep Draw, out to Island Grove, then to Kodak, then back to the car. I was tired, it was work to keep the HR in level 1. Fairly breezy, so it was slow going in a number of sections.

Parked at the Blue Mountain Trailhead, ran down Pole Hill Rd to the campground access road. Of course I had roller skis and poles in hand, with helmet and ski boot in a backpack.

A brutal ski up Pole Hill Rd to the Longs Peak overlook as I call it. There's some ridiculously steep sections where I was basically walking and my HR would not drop below 170.

This summer I'm going to try to get my intensity to 20% of my total training time - which is the general guideline for polarized training. Didn't meet that goal this week, which is OK, but maybe next week, though the next two weeks I'm home little for various reasons.

4x6min intervals at east trail. Paced it well as I went a touch faster on each, and I wouldn't have been able to complete a 5th at that pace if I tried. No pain in the left knee, but I'm certainly favoring the right leg because of concern of pain. But I think the knee is getting better as it gets stronger with training. Paces were 6:39, 35, 34, 33.

Got the training log entered going back to the Birkie now. I looked at the results, my un-timed Birkie wouldn't have gotten me into the elite wave, but I skied in slush. Elspeth skied 1:37, I would have beaten her by at least 5 minutes, which would put me at around 60th place. (I did a training ski with her 5 days before, there's no way I wouldn't have beaten her by a bunch.) I've been training well for the past two weeks, but for the year, I'm really behind, and I got kinda down looking at the results and thinking about my training. Somehow I got to keep training well through Feb, it's such a long time and work has just been getting harder and harder each year, and I have to avoid illness when it comes to Birkie week - which I just barely managed to do this year - getting covid symptom mere hours after finishing. So it was good that I had to ski on Thursday for that reason.... AND I have to stay injury free... I've completed 20, but I'd really like to get back into the elite wave. I don't think they're going to grant my request to be placed in the elite wave, so I'll have to do it from wave 1 this next year. I have to focus on the process the best I can for the time I have once school starts. Its a problem that my entire athletic year is solely focused on the Birkie, right now everything is largely dictated by it.
