It's had to do anything productive in these high winds so I'm happy I toughed it out and turned up to the Huon Series Race 1. I was amazed that the boat was still on the roof when I arrived as it certainly moved about during the drive.
From Huonvillle down though the big channel and then back. Last nights pouring rain made for a roaring current but there were also gusty headwinds so it was quite a mishmash. At one point a little tornado created itself in front of me (very little - 2m diameter) and I saw water surge up! it was gone moments later.
Anyway - I missed the start of my division due to a miscalculation (dumb) of the time it would take me to drift down to the line if I didn't paddle. Not sure what went wrong but everyone got off a minute ahead of me! doh. Nethertheless I felt I paddled ok so I'm happy with that effort in very tough conditions.
