Mariville Esplanade to Kingston Beach. Was planning to stop at taroona but it was a beautiful mirror flat morning so kept going - was more than 2/3 of way there anyway at taroona.

Regretted it though on the last stretch of the Alum Cliffs where the rising swell and the backwash from the cliffs made things very hairy indeed for 10 or so minutes. Had visions of having to swim last few K around the point and onto the dog beach but miraculously stayed upright. (john w had to swim from here last time he did this paddle). turns out it's often like this and I also have a very tippy boat. Considering purchasing an ocean ski again!

kayak - browns river. took a long time from getting up to getting on the water so didn't have a heap of time.

kayaking off bruny island. Was surrounded by more dolphins than I have ever seen ever. So surrounded in fact that I decided to flee for fear of being hit in the head by one (they were moving at the pace of a speedboat) and parts of the huge huge school kept going in my path despite the fact I kept changing my path to avoid them. In the end I turned around and just paddled away as they were starting to freak me out. Heard a big splash behind me and looked back and there was a line of 4 of them on my tail like motorbike riders in mad max. 30 seconds later and they were gone though although I could see their spashes off in the distance for ages. hard to describe just how many there were! Didn't have my camera unfortunatly so will just have to commit it to memory.

around the shortish peninsula walk on bruny island, really enjoyed it and really enjoyed the fact that i didn't see any snakes despite the area being quite snake-ridden. Later I found out that walkers on the same track just an hour earlier saw 4 tiger snakes and turned back .

I was also glad to avoid the ranger who had said to Jon the day before 'we would ask that you don't ride on the trail because blah blah blah blah blah'. There were no signs up about not cycling though so I think it was just his personal preference .

browns river. it felt cold - and my hands were freezing. checked the weather when I got home and it was 6 degrees - so no wonder. might need to invest in wetsuit gloves or something when it really does get cold.
nursing injuries from scooter stack so felt indifferent today.

lack lustre 1.25km swim. best thing about it is that I dont' have to swim later.
Also had to share a lane for the first time ever at collegiate pool.

As planned went out into the sea breeze off Kingston beach. felt like I was in fantastic control as I paddled north but then turned around into the wind and chop and struggled back up the beach - managed not to hit the drink though.

Then afterwards under the supervision of my family decided to see what would happen if I did tip out. I learnt the following things:

1) upturned kayaks blow away very quickly in a breeze
2) Even If I managed to hold onto the kayak I would be completely and utterly stuffed if this happened off shore - there's no way I could get enough water out to consider hopping back in, and there's no way I could get back in it anyway.

So despite becoming quite fond of the kt1 in the last few weeks I think for long term survival I'll probably need to get an ocean ski, which can't fill up water.

cycling 45:00 [3]

Went out with jon to his mtb event at kellevie and I did a lap of their course before they started. I managed to do it in a shade over jonno's first lap time (the one where he got a puncture and had to fix it twice before getting back). Then later on went out for a play on the tracks they weren't using that day.
Fell off all over the place but had fun.

Kayaking from kingston beach - trying to get see what happens in the kayak in more choppy conditions although I'd have to say the 7am swell on a windless day wasn't exactly challenging. Will have to attempt going out during an afternoon sea breeze at some stage.

basketball. lost by 5 points. missed all my foul shots and got hit so hard in the nose by another player I got a bleeding nose. happy days.

Tennis 50:00 [3]

tennis. normally i never mention tennis although I play a few times a week. Put it in today though so I could have more training hours than liggo.
