truganini track first thing the morning is ambitious I now realise. I felt so scrappy that I deliberately didn't time it but I recon about 23 mins if I'm being kind to myself!

short commute. had to hurry though or would have been late to paddling

fun last training session. Up to taroona high (which wasn't fun actually as it was windy and wavy). Then 3 mins with side-on swell paddling towards the middle of the river. Then a ripper of a downwind effort back and around blinking billy and back to the beach. threw absolute caution to the wind and hooned back, catching every last wave I could to the point of submerging the front half of the boat as I nosedived down the front of a wave with water pounding in the sides. Totally blew away the people who normally paddle away from me. woo hoo ! unfortunately sundays race will probably be dead flat so the status quo will be restored.

this morning parts of the river were jellyfish soup. in patches there were so many my rudder was thudding against them and I had to thread my paddle through them. it was freaky and a bit gross.

commute to work from Springs - felt much less tired this morning than last week so had a much smoother run down the mountain. Also my brakes are fixed so that was handy.

was supposed to be an 8 k time trial which I'd been dreading all day but the rough on-shore conditions forced its cancellation and we did 4 'sprints' out to the john garrow light instead. It was nasty heading out there with the boat stopping dead each time I got smashed by an oncoming wave (approximately one squillion times per 'sprint'). But the leg back to the beach was at least as fun as the trip out was horrible. Zooming down wave after wave back to the pontoon.

early morning paddle from huonville to channel and back - about 15 k. did a good time down to the channel then had a rude shock as I emerged at the other side of the island with a headwind and head current. dang! nethertheless it was a solid steady paddle so happy with that.

As mentioned yesterday I was pretty tired from a big week but the weather was so beautiful and the kids were at denny's so it would have been criminal not to get out an enjoy it so i took myself for a walk from the springs up icehouse, down zig-zag then organ pipes track to the springs. barely a cloud in the sky.

very chumpy run down North South and into town. It's sure getting dusty and broken up in the lower sections but it's still ok. My brakes need new pads anyway but I was so heavy on them this morning that by tolosa street the front brakes were shot. So I guess I'm going over the Bonnet this afternoon without them!

tough session with 6 'efforts' in choppy upwind, around a buoy then back down-wind. felt really happy with my paddling tonight - toughed it out and kept it up for the full 6. yay

then I locked boat on car and scootered to work for a shower. am loving having a shower at work!

from weldborough up the trail Clare and I rode in November to the road junction, then left, looking for the single trail I noticed when Clare and I rode the wrong way. luckily I didn't quite find it as apparently it would have taken me 15k down the hill towards derby and it was already 6pm! So anyway I just turned and headed back the way I came.

cbf putting the boat on the water today as per plan so went for a swim instead which was a welcome change. struggled though the kick board 250m but was all good. found the towel i didn't know we had lost (at zali's swimming lesson last tuesday) in the corner of the swimming pool change room which does cast a shadow over the pool's cleaning standards!

Kingston Salamanca commute. bonnet hill is long (ok not that long) and steady, whilst napoleon street is short and spewy - so I'm sure this is doing me a lot of good.

thursday night paddle group - without the coach as he was stuck behind closed roads due to bush fires. Nethertheless managed a good long paddle to taroona beach and back. used a paddle with a larger volume and it felt good.

after dropping kids off for first day of school went for a paddle to constitution dock. On the way back I did 10 x 1 min sprint with 1 min sloooow paddle in between - tried to focus on keeping some technique happening as I got tired.

Great cycle from waterworks up to fern tree then out along pipeline - made it to the shed after an hour. turned around and zoomed back to car in 32 minutes. felt like a good solid ride.

long way to work from the springs. fun but a little cold to begin with but saying that I felt sluggish until I took my jacket off. not sure what it is about my jacket that makes me ride slowly but I do - feel a lot more zoom without it.

Wanted to do something different so I started from marieville esplanade and went straight across river to bellerive bay. Then headed north past bellerive oval, wentwoth park and whatever comes afterwards .Turned after about 55 minutes and went straight back to sandy bay - the wind was annoyingly never from behind but it was a nice paddle nethertheless

After paddling i walked up and down truganni track. it took 28 mins to walk to top - interestingly only 6 minutes slower than running AND I didn't need the 5 minutes to recover at the top so round trip was the same length! I didn't want to run today as i've run twice this week and stankle needed a rest.
