warmup then 10 x 2 mins hard , 2 mins easy. Weird pre-thunderstorm conditions but pleasant.

From sandy bay up to constitution dock then turned and to kingston with a slight tail wind. Had to slog the alum cliffs section as the tail wind and waves died off.

Huon series race - 10km. Had a headwind in both directions which was disappointing but at least only had the current against us for half of it. Paddled ok- lost a bit of focus half way and slipped of the back of someone else's wash (like drafting on a bike) . Rudder was ok.

Felt like I've lost my paddle mojo at the moment. - fixed the rudder at home but have lost confidence in its reliability and still had to make a heap of adjustments after testing it to get the tension on the cables right again. It was freezing and I was by myself trying to tinker with it when it's a job for two or ideally three people. at least I got a couple of decent sessions in earlier this week.

Group training session. It did not go well - rudder connections broke 10 minutes into it - going into 35knot headwinds with a rising swell. Which left me floundering precariously around the derwent. got myself to the beach next to cairo to try to fix it but ended up just scratching the bottom of the boat. so had to paddle back rudderless but it was at least downwind although hairy in the swell and having to navigate through all the moored boats. all in all a very disappointing session.

back to reality and a bit of a rush to prepare myself for the freycinet challenge paddle! Was going to do intervals but thought I'd best just get back into the steady paddling first - so headed into the northerly for 40 minutes then came back on the waves in 30 minutes.

did two laps of 4 hour mtb race. during first lap resolved to never ride again as there was nothing fun about it - it was rocky, rocky and even the smooth bits were rocky. Gave myself a few hours off after the first lap to recover and psych myself into starting a second.

during second lap got a bit of flow and only hated it half as much. would have done a third but got distracted by jon finishing his eigth lap and then time ran out - oh well!

disappointingly the only real fun technical thingy on the course was a tree 'feature' - I enjoyed that, and I especially enjoyed seeing people go around it as well.

riding with jon on Marriners Run and J2. Nailed a few of the obstacles from yesterday, failed a few as well and completely lost my mojo for the last half an hour. Still - had a really nice time. will miss the lovely trails of Forrest.

fun cycle with clare. started on the super loop, jumped over to the rail trail and into the town to do three little loops around there, then back to the trail head via the 2nd section of the super loop. was completely buggered and covered with mud but had a fun time.

morning ride around Yaugher Super Loop then hopping on to Mariners run. Had a go at some of the obstacles we tackled in my lesson but avoided a few as well as the memory (pain) was fresh in my mind

pm ride - started out with jon so dared to do a few of the trickier obstacles. took a shortcut at the top of Mariners Run to come home as Clare was arriving.

this was not my planned session for today but got to sandy bay and it was quite a blustery northerly. Headed straight into it for 23 minutes then turned and scooted back with the waves. Got sloshed with water a few times and had some very tippy moments but stayed up.

warm up then 3 x (30sec, 1 min, 1 min, 30 sec) 5mins between sets. Arms etc felt a bit tired from the get-go - 20 minute warm down was the most enjoyable part as started to get a bit of rhythm.

Relaxing technique session - did some drills, floated around, even practised a self rescue much to the amusement of the beach strollers.

From Mariville Esplanade, north to constitution dock then turned and down to kingston. arms were suffering a bit from Wednesday evenings technical session in clarence pool (practising falling out and rescues and stuff).
Had nice tailwind and waves for most of the journey.
