pretty dreadful ride in hot conditions. felt off my game from in the first five minutes then had to even resort to walking sections of tinderbox ridge (never had to before). It was a bit of a shocker. It was also pretty hot but that's no excuse. Jon says i just had a bad day on my bike. was out for 2.5hours on a normal 90 minute ride - included lots of chatting and a couple of stops cos I felt i was going to spew. weird.

paddle group. only with out the group as I arrived late and they had already gone, and I had to leave early to get jett from a party (i know --school night!). still worth the paddle though.

Got up early and went for an actual paddle. My arms complained for the first 15 minutes but then it was ok.

following the kids around the christmas event course at Daisy Banks. Picked strawberries from a pick-your-own strawberry farm on way home. yum.

Riding part of the hellfire cup stage 1 loop with big group of girls. As I was in a hurry to get back to kids I elected to go with the 'A' group which I think was a good decision as some people in the 'B' group had only ridden a few times before. Ride was partly gravel road, partly brand new single trail varying from smooth berms to rocky tight corners and hair-raising loose descents. I had 1 stack and have impressive scratches on my leg. I was fine to keep up fitness wise but as soon as the trail turned technical I found myself alone while most of the other girls just motored away! humph!

Blue Tier loop. sort of. the sort of loop where you go up a track for a while, take a few wrong turns, continue up the correct track, but then a number of things caused us to turn and come home. As apart from the loop we intended to do.

Fun loop ride from Clare's house. Very variable terrain - from road, to 4wd track, to not-really-a-track track -the major navigational mistake we made was my fault so I can't complain about the scratches on my legs. happily we stumbled across the correct tracks in the end and made it back in time for what will be a delicious dinner.

reverse commute from mum's house home. legs feeling a bit weary from weekend riding bootcamp but that's a good thing.

Orienteering race 35:00 [3]

knocklofty. did the course in 28 mins but then scooted back around to pick up my paddling buddy Ian who started 10 minutes in front of me but I passed (without seeing him) on the way.

Eagle Hill mtb park. It sucked.

I guess it wasn't 'its fault that it was hot (and I was attracting flies as I rode) but it was its fault that it was rocky, steep, dusty, rocky, and had extra rocks. And not fun rocks either.

Clare would have clubbed me to death with her pump if I had taken her there. I was glad that I only had an hour to ride there anyway - and in any case I left after 50 minutes as it wasn't pleasant.

back at sturt gorge mtb area this afternoon - drove there this time. Had a great time swooshing around all the trails - some I missed last time, and some I just did a lot better than last time!

from 'home' to sturt gorge mtb trails. took me a while (30mins) to get there due to dodgy signage. but was worth trip. had fun on the newly opened trails, even took on a 'rock garden' trail but had to walk a few sections of that since I couldn't see a line through. good fun although area could have done with a few more trees - it was mostly open grassland.
oh and also it could do with making some of the trails one way - I was often in fear of being taken out by a rider coming swooping around some of the steep corners.

since I packed my bike up and dragged it to Adelaide I figured I'd better break this cycle of despondency/cbf-ness and go for a ride. sadly my cycle top fitted a bit more snugly than it did a few weeks ago (dang).

Actually enjoyed the ride though Belair national park though. yay.

paddle group. I was moments away from not going out (motivational issues) but my regular paddle buddy pulled up next to me so I couldn't sneak off un-noticed. session was ok. feel like i'm struggling though.

paddle group. was pretty tough going (for my poor neglected shoulder muscles anyway) with 2 sprints, 2 long efforts, then one 20 minute stretch straight into the wind/waves, with a downwind run back. I'm finding the downwind harder going than the upwind as I don't have any power for the sprints required to catch the waves.

thursday night paddle group. zero sleep in 24 hours + sharp efforts kayaking when I haven't paddled for a month = spew like conditions.
