kayaking 1:10:00 [3]

It's had to do anything productive in these high winds so I'm happy I toughed it out and turned up to the Huon Series Race 1. I was amazed that the boat was still on the roof when I arrived as it certainly moved about during the drive.

From Huonvillle down though the big channel and then back. Last nights pouring rain made for a roaring current but there were also gusty headwinds so it was quite a mishmash. At one point a little tornado created itself in front of me (very little - 2m diameter) and I saw water surge up! it was gone moments later.

Anyway - I missed the start of my division due to a miscalculation (dumb) of the time it would take me to drift down to the line if I didn't paddle. Not sure what went wrong but everyone got off a minute ahead of me! doh. Nethertheless I felt I paddled ok so I'm happy with that effort in very tough conditions.

Running 49:00 [3]

Nerinna Creek trail - it's been a while since I've been on it. As usual the 2nd hill seems endless!

cycling 50:00 [3]

Morning commute - bit of a headwind but strangely warm. felt fresh which was good given the interlude I had along the way..

Running 24:45 [3]

Stopped at truganinni track to run up to split tree and back. transition was less than 2 mins (change of shoes, lock up bike) but then ran the first few minutes very slowly looking for somewhere to stow my backpack. Anyway - reached split tree in 13:47.

cycling 48:00 [3]

lovely tailwind to send me home.

kayaking 50:00 [3]

I think I was rewarded for my early morning dedication (on water at 6.30) by the fact it didn't rain on me. it was still a bit blowy so I did two laps of Browns River. Arms a bit tired from sunday.

Running 43:00 [3]

Alum Cliffs straight after paddling. Actually it takes me 15 minutes to transition what with securing the boat to the car and all.

cycling 45:00 [3]

morning commute. no rain which was nice. headwind which was not nice but not too bad.
Sandybay had tumbleweed rolling through it as it's school holidays for both private & public schools.

cycling 48:00 [3]

it was strangely warm when I left work today - courtesy of a northerly which was also providing a tailwind. got to be happy with that (except for my sweaty feet)

Orienteering 40:00 [3]

orienteering at Peter Murrell reserve. Even the faintest of tracks was mapped which was a bit confusing at first. Lost a few minutes on number 5 which was annoying cos it meant bert beat me!

kayaking 1:45:00 [3]

Nice long cruisy paddle around north west bay. Parked at Snug beach to avoid the sunday arvo congestion at Dru Point boat ramp. was 5 mins extra drive but well worth it as a nicer place to start and finish. did a loop, cutting back across a bit earlier than usual but also going a bit further down the channel than usual. all good.

Running 43:00 [3]

alum cliffs. not fast but ok.

Friday Apr 19, 2013 #

cycling 45:00 [3]

morning commute. wet. windy. only consolation was that it wasn't dark, and I had a tailwind!

cycling 50:00 [3]

afternoon commute. wet, windy, dark and a headwind. the small bonus was that I finally fitted my rear mudguard so I only had a waterspout at the front.

kayaking 55:00 [3]

at 5am all i could hear was rain but when I got to the beach at 6.25 it was actually ok.

cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Ride to work from mum's in the morning, then all the way home in driving rain and darkness in the evening. I'll be surprised if there isn't snow on the mountain tomorrow.

kayaking 50:00 [3]

from little sandy bay straight across to tranmere. Not sure why - I just didn't feel like going upriver or downriver, so I went across.

Wednesday Apr 10, 2013 #

kayaking 45:00 [3]

with su at kingston

Running 45:00 [3]

Alum Cliffs with Su after paddle. was a little slower than I would normally go I recon - and also Su had a dog so I was a little nervous about my ankle and the stupid dog bombing past me all the time so the slowness was probably ok.

Orienteering 47:00 [3]

very happy with my run today - the navigation wasn't difficult *like yesterday - but I did probably lose a minute or two on the only tricky control.
ran as hard as I could until about the 11th control when I knew I was going to be able to hold 2nd place so I slowed down in order to not stuff up the final few controls. very happy.

cycling 1:20:00 [3]

cruisy bendigo ride. nothing special
