Gellibrand Point - Arm End Circuit - the trail was pretty boring but the views were amazing.

From Ferntree up to springs - 20:something which was pretty good considering I foolishly ran up there with almost full water bladder. Then down down down to Collegiate Pool where the kids were having waterpolo training. Pretty cool that it was all on tracks until about the last 100 metres.

Conningham Foreshaw run - I always forget that it's actually undulating and not completely flat. Such a pretty run though - nice way to combat saturday laziness.

Ferntree springs etc loop. wasn't particularly fast but kept running so that was good. nice winter day for it - there hasn't been all that much rain so the tracks are not muddy yet.

Orienteering 38:00 [3]

Orienteering Waverly Park. Much to the kids' delight I offered to pay them $1 for every split they beat me on if they did the same course I did. As expected they immediately stopped fretting about the length of the medium course and signed up for it. Consequently I ran the course like someone with $26 to lose - (i.e. 13 legs x 2). As it happened it had some tricky bits through bush with poor visiibity in sections - I took those legs really carefully and it paid off - I took 38 mins and the kids rolled in 20 minutes later having made a few mistakes. In the end I only ended up having to pay Jett $2 (one for a leg up a hill which he beat me and the 40 other people on the course, and one for the 2nd last). And Zali who got close a few times but ultimately didn't get me until the finish sprint. Lovely afternoon in hobart today.

Orienteering 22:34 [3]

Final race of what's been an awesome weekend! Handicap start, first across line wins. Jon started about two and a half minutes after me, and overtook me at as I reached out to punch the finish control! So that was pretty good handicapping between us at least!

Such a fun weekend !

Night Race - 20 minute score event. Jon had the Ay-Ups and unfortunately I couldn't read the map AND see the terrain with my kathmandu light so had a bit of a frustrating time on what was a superfun night area (mostly a golf course). Zali and Jett thrashed my pants!

Launceston Church Grammar School - getting quite weary now - probably lost 40 secs all up but certianly running out of legs !

Tas Uni - super fun race again - lost about 45 seconds on one control and was probably 20 secs near the start being a moron but aside from that it was ok.

Night Event at Trevallyn. Hilariously fun night event with mini mass starts and zillions of butterfly loops. Made dumb mistakes but it was so much fun anyway. Tossed for the Ay-Ups with Jon and I won - phew!

Orienteering 23:00 [3]

Brooks High School - - quite a long sprint even for me - 3.3k - really felt it near the end. faffed around in the same area on the way out and on the way back. Fun area and fun event.

short blob-a-jog around peter murrell reserve in the sunshine around lunchtime. Was nice to see so many other people out there using it (i guess normally I'm too early or late in the day).

Epic Jog-Hike up to cathedral rock, then along the ridge through Montegue Thumbs, down a godforsaken overgrown and soaking wet track to Wellington Falls, up and onto the wrong track so out to Potato Fields before I realised. Back to the right track, down to pipeline, suicidally steep down from pipeline to northwest bay river, back to the car. So exausted by the end.

A tidy 1054m climb. Uff.

Orienteering 35:55 [3]

Middle Distance Champs - Springbank. I've never found any redeeming features for this map and today was no different - chest high bracken, steep slopes, not many features. I'm not sure why we keep having to use it. Anyway - went ok - lost 2 mins on one control but was fine for the rest.

My favourite long run at the moment - from fortescue bay car park, along the old cape pillar track, then onto the new 3 capes track, then up and over mt fortescue (walking that bit), past Cape Huay and back to the carpark. sensational running/hiking.
