Run home from Jett's Soccer match in Taroona. The coast trail extends from Taroona beach right through to kingston now which is cool - although the bit around the shot tower is pretty steep.

It was so cold and wet that I (and most others) ran with a raincoat and I couldn't entice the kids to attend despite the promise of DOUBLE splits cash. Good thing too as it would have cost me a bomb over 14 controls and some silly mistakes. Glad I went as it would have been hard to drag myself out for any other exercise.

Cross Country race - my first one since... um.. 1985 - high school? or maybe I did one in lane cove - unlikely though.

Anyway - only did it due to Orienteering cross promotion - i.e. we go to their events, and hopefully some cross country runners come to ours and get immediately drawn in by the superiority of our sport. We tried this with the Athletics track crowd and got no-one (and we were forced to run a 1500m race - ugg!).

Clare did well of course and mixed it with the top juniors. Further back in the field Zali overtook me about 5 times then eventually left me for dead in the last 400 metres. I was expecting the race to be 5k so the final (and extra, and uphill) 500 metres nearly killed me. Almost all the orienteers who attended were in the top half of their gender which is pretty good.

St Virgils local event. Started off like a chump. Finished like a very tired person, thus was soundly beaten by Clare and Leida.

Pretty decent run at Rokeby Hills. Course setter made the most of the essentially crappy map. As it backs onto some dodgy areas of hobart the bush is full to the brim of rubbish and car bodies.

Calverts Beach Middle Distance Champs
Pretty good run - one medium mistake which was my fault, and some time lost at a control which was in the wrong spot - so all up pretty happy with that as it's very easy to go wrong in that area! Really enjoyed the event despite some dodginess.
