Orienteering race 21:50 [3]

Sprint Champs Qualification. As I knew I only needed to finish (and I wasn't sure about my ankle), I cruised around the course at a fairly leisurely pace. I also thought my main and only competition Claire Butler would put in a nice fast time assuring me of not having to start close to her in the reverse chasing start position final (as we'd be interspersed by others on the course). Unfortunately claire made an error, finished 1 minute in front of me and consequently had a start time 1 minute behind me in the final - worst case scenario! Still - Recent experience (day 3 easter) had demonstrated that you can win from the front (not that I for a moment thought that I would but I just decided not to worry about it either way).

Orienteering race 20:54 [3]

Sprint Champs Final - Moved fast out of the start straight into the relatively long first control and picked a good route choice on probably one of the few legs where route choice would have made more than a few seconds difference. Ran well with no mistakes and was subsequently running completely out of steam by the last few controls. Thanks to the aforementioned route choice on a couple of legs won (WON!) by a minute. Am very happy with myself and would have been regardless of the result. Ankle survived and I'll rest it for probably the rest of this week. woohoo!

easy jog just to see if it's going to be worth going to the sprint champs tomorrow. Ankle was runnable. Doubtful that 3 runs in 4 weeks is going to make me very competitive - although I am assured of a podium finish if I make it through both races, as there's only 2 of us running w21a.

Wow - counting 500metres on thursday, this was my 5th swim for the week. I hope there is a swim leg tomorrow.

Running 40:00 [3]

ran well for 35 minutes. Ankle fine then suddenly rolled it for no reason. very annoying and painful. jogged slowly towards home to work through pain and rolled it again for no reason bringing me crashing to the ground - it just seemed to give way - felt pain all the way up to my knee. walked the rest of way back extremely pissed off. Not sure what this means re original stankle injury but I'm sure one type inflames the other. can hobble about today but obv. off it again for a couple of weeks at least.

Casino to Kingston - actually attacked the hill a little - having been shamed by grey-haired-guy-in-trousers-and-fleecy-vest cycling past me with no toe clips on a big old bike back in taroona. I passed him again at the start of the climb and left him behind. phew.

Swimming 30:00 [3]

swim while kids did lessons. Jett was getting the hang of 'bubble-arm-breath-arm' and Zali was in the other lane swimming actual laps.

Running 20:00 [3]

First run for 2 weeks. Ankle felt fantastic for first 10 minutes, then I rolled it. f**king hell. So it's not so good anymore but it was reassuring that it was much improved anyway.

Out to end of intercity cycleway and back in a roaring headwind - so 43 out, 34 back. The whole thing wasn't all that pleasant although I sam gratefully for the warm and sunny gale force winds (as opposed to horizontal rainy gale force winds which would have been worse).

45 out 35 back - pipeline. was sunny but cold - wore my cycling arms all the way but the downhill on the way back really froze my knees and fingers.

2km. first k in 18.41 - only decided I'd try to do a fastish one about 300-400 metres in so first 500 was 9.41, 2nd 500 was 9.00 .

had a longish swim cos ankle is stuffed and needs at least a week or so off.

Pittwater. Decent run - lost some minutes but could have been a LOT worse - i.e person who was vaguely with me at about control 10 finished 20 minutes behind me.. etc etc.

1k or so whiile Zali and Jett took lessons. Swam next to one of the instructors who wasn't taking lessons. He is training for state champs or some such. I'm sure after seeing my form he will be inviting me to join his squad. although strangely he didn't ask for my number - perhaps he will look it up in the phone book.

jog along alum cliffs. didn't even time it. wish I hadn't rolled ankle near end. should be ok for pittwater tomorrow though

Being the training machine that I am I also rode home from sandybay. Actually all three of these sessions today, while worthy, are rather half arsed.

If there is a half-arse triathalon I would win. In fact that would be a great name for one: The Half Arse. 25mins swim (or as far as you can be bothered), 40 minutes out and back run (just turn back whenever), 45 minutes cycle (half uphill, half downhill - compulsory break to admire view at top).
