Wanted to 1) continue riding my bike while I was in the 'love' phase and 2)work up an appetite for the first of our 3 breakfast vouchers at a salamanca cafe. (that we won at the freycinet challenge)

Did both successfully out at Belbins Road, Cambridge - 3 laps of a little 10 (for jon) 15min (for me) course steadily improving each time on the technical things I could do. By the end of it I could 'complete' each obstacle which was really cool.

Stankle really hurts now though - not sure why as we did way more riding in forrest and it didn't hurt this much. hmm.. surely it can't have been the 10 or so metres i ran with my bike on Sunday? in which case, after 3 months of rest it's clearly stuffed anyway.

mtb nav event at Ellendale. did it with mark west and had a great time in high contrast to the last time I was there when I remember having a miserable time on a regular solo orienteering course. I have realised that I have a love-hate relationship with mountain biking.

Thursday night group session. 10,8,6,3 minute efforts with hefty gap in between. Almost couldn't be bothered going tonight but since boat was on roof it would have been shameful not to. was glad I did though as had a good session.

kayaking 1:50:00 [3] 17.0 km (6:28 / km)

Very cruisey paddle from marrieville esplanade, north to constitution dock then south to kingston beach. my lift home was still 20 minutes away so I continued onto blackmans bay arriving just as they pulled up. it was all very pleasant with light winds behind me for last 30 minutes.

cycling 1:00:00 [3]

easy cruise back from margate via peter murrel reserve

kayaking 1:10:00 [3] 10.0 km (7:00 / km)

Night paddling session. 2.5 warm up then 2 longish loops in the area of blinking billy with a bit of a rest in between. then short efforts back to wrest point.

kayaking 55:00 [3]

had intended to go for longer but the conditions were challenging with a strong northerly which got even stronger the closer I got to constitution dock. Turned around and surfed back (which was quite hairy at times)

cycling 15:00 [3]

strong northerly was a pain for the second time.

kayaking 1:22:51 [3]

Day 2 Paddle - After a scary nervous washing machine type chaotic start it was a long paddle out to the first turning buoy off the fisheries. By the time I got there it felt like I was by myself at the back of the field. So I was delighted to turn around the buoy and see more than half the pack behind me. Phew! The race seemed like it was going to go on forever but once I got out to the fisheries the 2nd time I was able to psych myself into making it back aournd the bay and out to the line without exploding. Finished 76th out of 166 paddlers and 3rd woman (out of only 20 - in most of the mixed teams the guys do the paddling). Was stoked to beat at least two other people in my regular paddling group who are normally minutes ahead of me. I'd say I was a bit fresher than them though!

kayaking 1:39:10 [3]

Day 1 Paddle: Man that was tough. The tide was out, the wind was blowing and the current was running - all in unfavourable directions! Easily the toughest paddle I've ever done and it felt so so long. Was happy that I didn't actually run aground at any point (like tonnes of other people) but I did have to stop to get weed off my rudder at the far turning point. The best moment was finishing and seeing the whole team plus kids waiting for me on the beach - cool! Later on Jo showed me a video she took of me starting which showed how hilariously incompetent I was in every aspect (I've never done a racing beach start before!). She has promised not to release it to the public until 99 years after my death.
Was really happy with the result - 74th out of 166 and 3rd fastest woman. Overtook the French professional adventure racing woman along the way who is in town training for the world championships.

a recce of moulting lagoon as I've never paid much attention to the paddling conditions. ran aground despite attempting to follow the channel markers. The tide will be even lower for the race tomorrow unfortunately.

kayaking 1:15:00 [3]

from kingston, took on the big big swell off the beach, paddled to browns river, fell out trying to avoid surfing onto the carpark and devastatingly drowned my radio. Then did two laps of browns river with one bridge to bridge effort 9.35. Felt ok.
