ride from home via KSC up to leslie vale on back roads, across huon highway, up to top of picket hill, then back down to summerleas road on a network of single trails . fun. first 40 minutes were uphill at various grades. a good little loop.

Paddling Group. Warmup then 4 x 4mins with 2ish mins rest. long warm down..

Jon dropped me off at the corner of Lynton Ave and Davy St so I rode up to waterworks, then up the pipeline track through ridgeway to fern tree, then down westringia trail to summerleas then home. it was great. last time I went down westringia it was with jon and I didn't know what to expect, AND it was freezing cold and rainy, this time knew I could ride most of it, and it was really cool.
Also happy to be able to ride up to fern tree from waterworks, that's another ride I've been putting off cos I keep imagining myself suffering and pushing but it was actually totally fine.yay

My plan was to due some technical training but due to a high tide and high swell it didn't really happen so I just paddled down to far end of blackmans bay beach and back..

Waterworks short loop.

Took me 4-5 minutes longer than it normally would but I was actually expecting to be 10 minutes slower so that's fine. Ran the whole way (rather than walk up the steep steps) so happy about that. Ankle survived the long downhill ok but was sore.

back in my lovely boat that I appreciate all the more after the Fenn XT I had to paddle in melbourne.

Race 2 of the Huon series, racing was a shock to the system! Last year I paddled in div 3, this time I started in Div 2 but only managed to hold onto the pack (i.e. draft) for first 12 mins, then I was on my own. Hauled in a few div 3 paddlers (they start 3 mins ahead) around the half way mark and managed to pull some time back on some div 2 paddlers on the way back which I was happy about. Feel like I had a good 2nd half. I am glad I don' have a garmin or anything to prove me wrong.

Followed paul taking the long way to work around docklands and through west gate park. fun. Then rode back to beach from the convention centre then figured since I was out i would ride down to st kilda pier and back.

i think my work here is now done.

cruisy little ride to check out the mtb park at west gate park. it seems a bit unmaintained at the moment, or more correctly, maintained by trucks so the actual trails have been a little lost. rode on what I could though.

fun fun cycle with my homies out towards westerfolds park. didn't really get very far but did some fun single trail on the way out and back.

Note

dashed along to paddling session after the ride but it was cancelled as all the boats were locked in the clubhouse as the new electronic key system had failed. doh

Did a big loop of city via network of trails. and some that weren't networked. and some that weren't trails.


it actually took me almost 4 hours but so much of it was spent stopped or back tracking that i'll only count 3.

Very wet (and not just from the sea), very dark paddle with paddling group in Port Melbourne. Very challenging being in a different boat (Fenn XT) with a different paddle setup.

night session. hard work.

3 hard efforts over set course, with short rest <2 mins in between. aim was to try to be consistent rather than (or as well as) fast. 12.31, 12.17, 12.29

Being one of the slower paddlers meant that I got the least amount of rest in between each race (I'd be sent off first, then finish almost last, then be sent off first again). this made me grumbly, particularly when I was suffering through the last part of each race. humph.

Dropped Jett off at school then rode to and around the domain then back to watch Zali in her school cross country race. really didn't go very hard as was a bit tired from yesterday's efforts including 45 minutes on the xbox fitness stuff (for research purposes).

Shorter loop round peter murrell. Just wanted to get out for something on my mtb as I"ve been avoiding it lately for no particular reason. was fun.

Was scheduled to do a technique session but my paddling buddy was going out so thought I should take opportunity to paddle together. did 6 x 1min efforts, paddling a km between each one. was ok during the efforts but struggled to get back up to speed in between.
