kayaking race 59:57 [3]

Huon Race - from franklin, up around island via through the big channel on the way out then straight home from the northern point of the island.
Really happy with my paddle - gave it absolutely everything I had from the half way mark to make up some time on one of the paddlers I could see ahead of me. Dragged along two of the paddlers I was with (until then I'd been wash riding them) - one of whom I'd never beaten before.
Caught the guy I wanted to catch in particular with about 250 metres to go, gave myself about a 30 seconds to recover on his wash then gave a sprint finish a crack - recon I went too early though - Once he knew what I was trying to do he poured on the pace so we swapped positions for a bit but he got me by a metre or so on the line. the guys I was dragging didn't have anything in the tank so satisfyingly they finished behind me too - I was concerned they would pop out from behind and go for it.

Finally broke the elusive 60 minute mark for that loop - YAY!

cycling 1:10:00 [3]

hill ride. well hill-ish ride . stopped to take lots of photos which slowed me down but allowed me to catch my breath..

kayaking 45:00 [3]

too nice a day to not go out, but didn't want to just float about so I did 4 x 3min efforts with a minute in between to get heart rate up. then a nice warm down steady paddle. was lovely.

kayaking 1:00:00 [3]

Thursday night paddling group. from dss up to bridge (around 20 minutes) supposedly wash riding but my group dropped me from the back after about 10 minutes (stupid boys) so that made me sulky. one of the guys from the group behind me picked me up and slowed his pace so I could hang on though so that was nice.

did 2 individual efforts on way back. 6.30 and about 13 - felt like i paddled well in those.

cycling 1:10:00 [3]

usual peter murrell loop.. felt a bit tired in legs to begin with.

kayaking 1:00:00 [3]

Despite the grey conditions, had a nice paddle from sandy bay via shoreline up to docks, did a little loop there then went straight back down wind to home. no dolphins...

cycling 1:30:00 [3]

Milestone ride since it's the first time I've managed to ride UP from Tolosa St to the Junction Cabin - YAY ME! I did it with no stops but in an embarrassingly low gear!

58:58 up from car to cabin, not exactly sure how long down but it wouldn't have been more than 30 minutes that's for sure..

cycling 2:30:00 [3]

From kingston, up browns road, under the outlet then on series of fire trails with a few bits of single track up to ridgeway - finally popping out on ridgeway road (or waterworks road or whatever) then riding up to junction of huon road.

From there usual route home via pipeline, westringia, summerleas and home.

Coming along the early fire trails I actually felt closer to spewing than I ever have as a result of riding or running.. so it was probably good for me!

kayaking 45:00 [3]

it was such a nice afternoon couldn't help but go and do a cruisy technique session in browns river.

kayaking 1:20:00 [3]

very cruisy ride around domain with Su and Miriam.

Thursday Jul 19, 2012 #

kayaking 1:00:00 [3] 7.0 km (8:34 / km)

after a warmup we did 4 x 8minutes with a few minutes in-between.

There were dolphins around as we started, and a friendly seal on the way back. I quite like the seal now. dolphins are still evil.

uninspired peter murrell loop.

Running 42:53 [3]

Alum Cliffs. hmmm... it seems i run faster when I can't hear how much I am puffing (i.e. when I'm listening to the radio).

Swimming 30:00 [3] 1.25 km (24:00 / km)

It was a bit too windy to paddle, and a bit too muddy to cycle so I went for a quick swim before ferrying kids to gymnastics. Would have liked to have got to 1.5k but not enough time so included 10 x 50m sprints so that was at least worthwhile.

kayaking 1:25:00 [3] 14.0 km (6:04 / km)

Paddle from marieville esp down to kingston. nice steady pace with Ian.

cycling 2:07:00 [3] 30.0 km (4:14 / km)

Pretty happy - did Tangara Loop this time with out the navigational mistakes but 10 mins quicker than did it the first time when I just followed along. (last week we did it but took almost 3 hours and rode an extra 5k).

Great ride for when you come down next clarabelle.

kayaking 1:10:00 [3]

phew another hard session. this time a 1 hr time trial - we had to do as many laps as possible from a 1.5ish km course - I managed just over 6 and a half laps - it was tough work. Everyone started out fast and left me floundering out the back but I felt I came good after the first 3 or so laps and I had a good 2nd half of the course, hauling in a few of the guys in front of me and then leaving them behind. just covered in sweat afterwards.

kayaking race 57:00 [3] 10.0 km (5:42 / km)

Not exactly sure of exact time but happy with my paddle in the Ice Breaker multisport. hopefully (results aren't out) I finished in the middle of the field which contained 150 guys and maybe 7 girls at the most.

Jon finished off our day with a great ride and run to bring us home 2nd in mixed (the top team had a gun male paddler who finished in the first 10), gun cyclist and gun girl runner doing the relatively short 7k run at the end). can't compete with that.

Friday Jul 6, 2012 #

cycling 2:50:00 [3] 35.0 km (4:51 / km)

Tangara trail with Su Sprott plus a bit of being lost and backtracking so ended up riding 5 bonus kilometres. Looking forward to next time when we'll know what we are doing.

kayaking 1:05:00 [3]

Phew that was a tough session..

10 mins warm up then a pyramid session... 2,4,6,8,6,4,2 which would have been tough as it is written except I'm SURE I paddled for longer than the allotted time on each effort as it was a set course (i.e. round a group of boats, or up to a pontoon and back) so if you aren't the fastest, it took longer..

Was totally buggered afterwards -happy with how I paddled though. resting up paddle-wise until race on Sunday..

cycling 1:40:00 [3]

muddy muddy Kellevie 3 hr enduro on a team with two. All my energy went into trying not to slide off the track (for the zillionth time) - turns out my tyres weren't up to the job. I'll be having words with my mechanic
