evening paddle group in a bit of chop. did 4 x about 10 minute races. started in middle group so caught up to the first group and was being overtaken by the bak group just as we reached the turning boats. chaos ensued each and every time. Sometimes I'd line myself up on the inside line (my favourite) and everything was looking good then suddenly the big boys would hoon up on MY inside and I would get wedged in and loose all momentum. all fun and games though. Especially when Jodi (v fast girl) got her rudder caught on a bouy and stopped dead in the middle of everyone! didn't stop her overtaking me later on in that race though - humph.

need to make a determined effort to do more than just sit at work and then sit in a boat and then sit on the couch as it's making my back sore. So went for a run before work. despite not having run for ages it was really nice and i'll try to do the same tomorrow.

was expecting calm nice weather. got horrible windy 40k hr weather and a slap in the face with a wet fish (equivalent of anyway).
nevertheless struggled on as I am tough.

Tough session to start the Freycinet Challenge campaign. From DSS to CSIRO easy - except I got there late so had to paddle hard. From CSIRO to bridge at 90% (good grief). From bridge to cornelian bay and back at 15secs hard, 30secs easy. That alone took 20 minutes! back to CSIRO at 90% (aargh!) then cruisy home.
was evening group paddle - it's now starting 15 minutes later so perhaps I'll make it a little more often.

first paddle since I stacked my scooter on Monday and ripped up my hands (and trousers! and knee..). All seems to be ok. felt like I was dragging an anchor today though so I was disappointed to discover that I was not when I came back to shore.

Around north west bay. had planned to paddle in the huon but due to technical reasons (forgot my paddle), I had to revise my plans!

I'm trying to shake out this all-over-soreness that I've got for no particular reason so plodded out around Peter Murrell reserve this afternoon. took a while to get going but managed to finish off the run ok at least. I'm still sore though.

Orienteering 30:00 [3]

saturday afternoon series. taroona.
everything hurt today. sore back, sore legs, sore butt, sore hands, sore arms, sore everything and I'm not really sure why.

But this was the last race of the series so despite the freezing conditions I loaded myself into the car like an old lady and went anyway. I was ok once I started running but sore again after.

Anna only beat me by 30 secs which is probably my best result. I recon route choice was the reason for that rather than improved speed!

1.8 degrees when I started. there was a layer of ice on the boat including in the seat which meant I slipped around when I first got in, but then I stuck tight as the ice stuck to my wetsuit.

still it was nice and sunny and I took a couple of nurafen beforehand so my hand was ok. On Wednesday it was really sore.

had to be home by 9am so abandoned plans of longer paddle in the huon and did intervals at kingston instead.
8 mins warmup - paddled into Browns river,

2 by 4 x 3 mins with 30 seconds rest. 2 mins rest between 1st and 2nd set. I was paddling up and down the lower stretch of browns river so I could see exactly how much I was fading as the session went on!

Also I paddled past the same fisherman 8 times - I'm sure he was appreciative. He did catch at least one fish though.

Wind is building now so I'm glad I've got my paddle out of the way for the day and also achieved 4 paddles this week. yay!

paddle from kingston . it was pretty choppy outside of the bay with rebound off the bay and swell so I abandoned my journey towards blackmans bay (cos there's not going to be any swell in the Winter Challenge) and I came back and did a lap of Browns River.

Orienteering 20:00 [3]

saturday arvo series. ran well - luckily it was a short course as lack of recent training was going to kick in if I'd had to run much further. fun event. I love these saturday arvo races.

pyramids around the boats near the casino. longest was about 10 mins, shortest 90secs. between 45secs & -1.15 rest in between.

note to self: do not eat porridge before highish tempo morning paddle.
