cycling 50:00 [3]

lovely morning for a ride.

cycling 50:00 [3]

commute home. so nice to be outside after roasting in the office for half of the day. outside temp: 19 degrees, inside temp : hot enough to stick to seat. Can't wait until thursday when it's going to be 36 outside.

Monday Dec 16, 2013 #

kayaking 1:00:00 [3]

from Kingston down past blackmans bay and back. very nice way to start week.

Running 30:00 [3]

ok. so this was actually only 29mins. but it was hilly so it felt like 30. actually it felt like about 3 hours as I haven't run for weeks.

cycling 1:05:00 [3]

out at tolosa mtb park. saw a 1.2 metre long tiger snake within minutes of starting. turned I was still way more likely to die from a heart attack than a snake bite today as I rode up to the Clapper Bridge and back. I haven't ridden on my mtb for ages and having to do so up a semi-technical hill with steeper pinches nearly killed me. thankfully there were a few trees down (on the uphill track) so I *had* to stop to get over them. the downhill was clear and fun though.

cycling 50:00 [3]

headwind commute but got into a 'pack' of 3 and we shared the lead. so felt quite zoomy in the end.

cycling 50:00 [3]

commute home

Thursday Dec 12, 2013 #

kayaking 1:00:00 [3]

10 mins warmup, then 3 sets of 10 x (45secs moderate, 15secs hard) with 5 mins in between. then 30 mins warmdown.

Tuesday Dec 10, 2013 #

kayaking 55:00 [3]

slog up to bridge then fast run back with a tailwind. not much swell. not much sun either for that matter.

cycling 35:00 [3]

i'm adding this cos from car to work to school assembly then back to work then back to the car involved 2 trips UP napoleon avenue. which means it's training.

Monday Dec 9, 2013 #

cycling 50:00 [3]

been a while since I've done a morning commute. it was very nice.

cycling 50:00 [3]

commute home. it's been a long time since i've done the double commute so good on me!

Sunday Dec 8, 2013 #

kayaking 1:00:00 [3]

major stuff-around for a group down wind run all for 1 hours worth of OK paddling. whole excursion took 4 hours and I wasn't even involved in the car shuffle. won't bother with that again unless it's for a longer paddle.

Saturday Dec 7, 2013 #

kayaking 1:00:00 [3]

cruisy paddle while Jett had a party at the boat park.

Thursday Dec 5, 2013 #

kayaking 1:15:00 [3]

thursday night group. conditions I wouldn't try alone again - but quite fun if a little scary in a group. paddled up into strong headwind, rain and swell to taroona beach then manouvered around and caught a ride back. The waves were a bit messy which made the trip home harder work than I was hoping for. a good session though.

Tuesday Dec 3, 2013 #

kayaking 45:00 [3]

still seem to have blisters from sunday. did some easy technique

cycling 50:00 [3]

Commute home - pumped up tyres, lubed chain, fixed brakes. Couldn't do anything about headwind though

Monday Dec 2, 2013 #

cycling 50:00 [3]

commute home.

Sunday Dec 1, 2013 #

kayaking 1:27:00 [3]

really not sure how long the race went for as results aren't up yet. The plan was for a down wind race (kingston to hobart) but the wind was in the wrong direction so we ended up paddling a loop race from kingston beach to the point off taroona beach (sloggy upwind), down to the far end of blackmans bay (nice downwind) then turn and slog back to the beach. The rebound was a shocker (the waves bouncing back off the rocks that crash with the waves going towards the rocks). So bad that I ended up having a surprise swim, which was inconvenient but made no difference to my placing - i was out the back door anyway. I'm still happy enough with my race. Well happy I did it anyway - i struggle wth the big headwinds as the boat stops as it slams over waves then I have to get it going again and I lose out to the guys in that power/strength requirement. whatever. beautiful sunny weather.

ok - so turns out it was 14k and 87 minutes
