cycling 50:00 [3]

lovely and calm again.

cycling 15:00 [3]

left work late just as the drizzle was turning into rain. Was underdressed and soaked by the casino so decided to stop in at the St Canice Ave Bike-For-Car exchange centre (mum and dads) and pick up a car to drive the rest of the way home.

cycling 45:00 [3]

cycling 50:00 [3]

ride in - tail wind yay!

cycling 55:00 [3]

nasty headwind. Clare was strong and stoic. I was weak and whiney.

cycling 1:05:00 [3]

cruisy cycle around bridport. Bridport grows on you.

Saturday Oct 24, 2015 #

Running 1:00:00 [3]

walkish-runish on bridport walking track. not sure if my foot is broken or not.

cycling 2:15:00 [3]

DErby Derby Derby!!! v. fun even though I was a bit rusty and had a small meltdown on the big descent due to overly scary berm corners.

Running 40:00 [3]

waterworks. I'd describe it as sluggish, but that would actually be very insulting to slugs in this instance.

cycling 50:00 [3]

uneventful, and nicely calm. A road cyclist did come past me while chatting on his mobile phone.

cycling 50:00 [3]

cycle home. bit of a headwind but that wasn't as annoying as the truck that overtook me in car-door alley in lower sandybay, leaving the width of a toothbrush between us.
then later going up the bonnet, two cyclists ahead of me (the same two Clare shamed the previous week) got beeped by a LEARNER driver who didn't think they should be allowed to ride side by side. tool.

I might have just made it in 50 minutes despite a reasonable headwind. I found the perfect person (big guy) to quietly draft off coming into Taroona but he must have smelt me as he blasted up a little pinch and I couldn't catch him again - dammit! then as I was retelling this incident at work it turns out that he's the husband of someone who works here! ha! AND he apparently has a little mirror on his handlebars so he probably saw me before he smelt me.

cycling 50:00 [3]

bloody headwinds. I knew when the temperature dropped 5 degrees in 5 minutes in the afternoon that I was in for a southerly. Battled it out by myself until taroona then hitched a draft with a road cyclist until the shot tower when the slight change in gradient saw me crash off his tail.

Good to complete the double-double (double commute, two days in a row)

cycling 55:00 [3]

National Ride to Work Day. LOTS of cyclists in every direction. we caught and passed a big slow dude with very muscly legs on a mountain bike. Which caused him such angst he came flying back past and then towed us to the casino. Thank's for the ride Angsty MTB Dude!

cycling 50:00 [3]

straightforward ride home. Have told Clare to take the day off cycling tomorrow to re-align her charkras which are obviously way out of whack.

Tuesday Oct 13, 2015 #

cycling 2:00 [3]

commute to work, cut short when Clare faceplanted into a park bench . Her face is ok. Brain a bit shaken up.

Monday Oct 12, 2015 #

cycling 50:00 [3]

cycle home in medium headwind.

Sunday Oct 11, 2015 #

Walking 2:00:00 [3]

Friday Oct 9, 2015 #

cycling 50:00 [3]

beautiful morning to ride in. left at 7.10 and it was very quiet on the roads. last day of school holiday riding conditions!

Thursday Oct 8, 2015 #

cycling 50:00 [3]

Freezing cold this morning including a frost - brr!! Then a slight headwind. steady pace though.

cycling 50:00 [3]

commute home - turns out clare has a club foot, collapsed lung and dislocated knee (pretty much), so we left the roadies alone today.

Wednesday Oct 7, 2015 #

cycling 50:00 [3]

windy ride in, luckily I had my windbreaker in place.

cycling 50:00 [3]

commute home. no tail wind but swirly headwind was shielded by Clare so made decent time.

Got overtaken by a pair of road cyclists on a slight downhill before souicide bend. Because Clare drives a hard pace-train we had them in our sights again shortly after the start of the climb. By the top of the bonnet they were crying into their tri-bars as clare was showing them the back of her clunky commuter girl bike.

Orienteering 57:51 [3]

super happy with slow, but technically good race. Don't recon I lost much time at all. Had absolutely nothing left for last 1/3 of race - dragged my arse into the finish but stoked I didn't lose extra time on the navigation which would have easily been possible. Aided by Clare's run (50, including 6 mins mistakes), we would have been 2nd in W20e. good on us. and of course we all punched correctly so we won our class.

Orienteering 1:07:00 [3]

Long Champs. It was hot (but I was early so I didn't suffer nearly as much as the late starters), and I felt weary and slow from the get-go. on the long track leg I daydreamed instead of taking a right hand turn so went the long way around a hill, and near the end I wasted minutes a) finding the track, then b) running on it the wrong way. was just tired. surprised to be 5th!

Orienteering 14:40 [3]

sprint champs - very fun run around St Pats including inside some buildings which had me confused to begin with (although if I'd read the information I would have known). No significant mistakes but kept speed pretty low (be necessity).
