thursday night group. conditions I wouldn't try alone again - but quite fun if a little scary in a group. paddled up into strong headwind, rain and swell to taroona beach then manouvered around and caught a ride back. The waves were a bit messy which made the trip home harder work than I was hoping for. a good session though.

really not sure how long the race went for as results aren't up yet. The plan was for a down wind race (kingston to hobart) but the wind was in the wrong direction so we ended up paddling a loop race from kingston beach to the point off taroona beach (sloggy upwind), down to the far end of blackmans bay (nice downwind) then turn and slog back to the beach. The rebound was a shocker (the waves bouncing back off the rocks that crash with the waves going towards the rocks). So bad that I ended up having a surprise swim, which was inconvenient but made no difference to my placing - i was out the back door anyway. I'm still happy enough with my race. Well happy I did it anyway - i struggle wth the big headwinds as the boat stops as it slams over waves then I have to get it going again and I lose out to the guys in that power/strength requirement. whatever. beautiful sunny weather.

ok - so turns out it was 14k and 87 minutes
