did the cryptic medium course.
turns out that if you add anything extra to orienteering (like having to try to interpret cryptic clue descriptions where the control circle is only indicitive of the general area around which we might find the control) - tips it past the intellectually enjoyable range! Nothing wrong with the course but mostly I found the control, then was able (in hindsight) to work out what the description meant.
For example 'stairing into space and not ill) is a stairwell. "so useless I threw it out" was a drain. (I was expecting it to be a rubbish bin).. etc etc.
I took 37 minutes, the kids took 80 but they obviously have more tolerance for searching than I do as they said they really enjoyed it!
