Orienteering (Control collecting) 40:00 [3] ***** 8.0 km (5:00 / km) +50m 4:51 / km
spiked:18/20c (sick) shoes: Icebug Acceleratis

Went out control collecting after race with Nick Hann which was great to get more time on that map and talk through some different strategies on the way. Thinking about height, clearings, and bearings particularly. Didn't seem nearly as hard at 1:5000 and without the clock running...

Orienteering race (Middle) 1:15:46 [4] ***** 7.27 km (10:26 / km) +23m 10:16 / km
ahr:149 max:199 spiked:20/26c slept:10.0 (sick) shoes: Icebug Acceleratis

Middle distance at Woodend. Highlight of the day was taking a bearing back to front and happily running several minutes the wrong way. Put together with several other difficult to find controls in intricate detail and it wasn't happening for me today. The lesson is better compass work all round I think, and more time in sand dunes.

Orienteering race (Long) 1:47:08 [4] **** 10.56 km (10:09 / km) +550m 8:03 / km
ahr:140 max:214 spiked:14/16c slept:10.0 (sick) shoes: Icebug Acceleratis

Pretty stoked with my first ever win in a big(ish) event, and with a respectable time. Second guessed myself on one control, losing a couple of minutes. Should have taken a gel at the first water station, as I felt myself flagging on the long climb before the second. Pleased with route choices overall, and coming off the back of a cold there is room for improvement, particularly in speed along the long legs.

Orienteering race (QBD Day 1 Leithfield) 1:08:02 [4] **** 8.51 km (8:00 / km) +44m 7:48 / km
ahr:167 max:210 spiked:23/26c slept:10.0 (sick) shoes: Icebug Acceleratis

Middle distance on mixed pine forest, sand dune and paddock terrain. Didn't put the speed on today as still wasn't feeling flash, resulting in some poor looking splits, but was happy with my nav and execution today. Most trouble/time loss is happening within the control circle now.

Running long 1:05:00 [3] 11.5 km (5:39 / km) +100m 5:25 / km
ahr:151 max:169 (sick) shoes: Ascics Gel-Pulse 7

Long flat run with Dave and Darron. Fairly slow but just what I needed. Nice to get out again, still not feeling 100%.
