Smith Rock Ascent trail race, 4 mile. The climb up Misery Ridge was brutal, but the rest of the race I felt like I was actually cruising along pretty well. After the big climb I was alone for almost the entire race, but reeled two guys back in during the last half mile - missed getting one of them at the finish by two seconds. Only 4 seconds out of the top 10 overall. 12th out of 46-ish isn't too bad for my first trail race. Especially with the altitude and the climbing and how brutal yesterday's workout was on my legs, I felt like that was a really good result. 4:30 faster would have put me in the top 3 overall, which I think I could have easily gotten a couple minutes of that if I hadn't woken up at 3:45am to drive three hours after my workout yesterday.
And I saw a small lizard and a corgi during the race which, let's be honest, is way more important than any good result I got.
Got through 25 round, then 20 additional KB swings.
Didn't feel so good today, slept badly, and my stomach felt off, but I seemed to perk up during the workout. I was low energy this weekend so I did a lot of resting (with, er, lots of housework I had to do....).
