Running (Hiking) 8:45:00 [3] 33.1 km (15:52 / km) +3268m 10:37 / km

An actual day in the hills today after yesterday's Sisyphus impression. A fair amount of tussocky, boggy, bouldery nonsense, hence the slower pace.

I wasn't very keen when I got up, some really tender hip flexor stuff going in, but once I got going it was fine. Definitely feeling used but nothing terrible. Slightly lighter bag than yesterday but still way heavier than my race pack. Energy levels fine all day. Both days this weekend I've been eating more less often, 300-350 calories at the bottom of the climbs. With the lower intensity it seems to work fine.

I feel good just now. My quads and hips know they've been in a fight but I'll get a massage tomorrow and lie around all week, should be good to go next weekend. The last two days have been pretty encouraging. Yesterday in particular was about as big as the toughest stage of Euforia so getting it done in 10 hours with a big bag is good.

Running (Hiking) 10:04:00 [3] 47.8 km (12:38 / km) +4589m 8:32 / km

Jings. That was the biggest days training I've ever done. 10 laps of Meall a' Bhuachaille. Pack was about 10 kilos, good few kilos heavier than last week. Left achilles a little tight throughout but never getting any worse. But tired towards the end but hey, what do you expect?

Just now the prospect of the same tomorrow doesn't fill me with joy but once I've eaten and slept I may feel differently. Might lighten the pack a little or do a rep or two less seeing as I went over the vert target today.

Cycling (Easy) 2:05:00 [3]

Covering a shift at work tonight so the back to backs will be tomorrow and Sunday. I had a belter of a route planned but the forecast is atrocious. 50mph winds and rain for two days sort of stuff. I'd thought of driving to Ben More and doing laps, as it's 1000m from the road and you climb the northerly side, therefore sheltered for most of it. But that'd be 2.5 hours driving for a Sisyphus impression, so current thinking is to do the same thing closer to home. There are 3 routes up Meall a' Bhuachaille so at least there'd be some variety. It's not hugely steep, but with I should still be able to get the vert in. It will certainly be a good mental test.

Feeling a bit rubbish and lethargic this morning. Hill sprints went well though.

Running (Moderate) 1:01:00 [3] 13.8 km (4:25 / km) +192m 4:08 / km

Some a little quicker than Moderate perhaps, but nice to be doing a bit of faster running.

Running (Easy + TEs.) 1:04:00 [2] 10.4 km (6:09 / km) +215m 5:35 / km

Soggy single track. A little hamstring tightness, that eased through the run and after the TEs.
