Running (Specific Endurance) 4:25:00 [3] 26.6 km (9:58 / km) +2648m 6:39 / km

Over west, not quite in Glen Coe but similar terrain. Hamstrings pretty tight after racing but not as bas as I used to get. (In 2015 I ran the Fairfield Horseshoe, drove up to my dad's, tried to get out of the car and fell over because I couldn't straighten my legs.)

I'd intended to get to some downhill fireroad towards the end to practice the change of gears that there is towards the end of the Skyline but the paths didn't quite go where I thought they did. Managed to get a kilometre or so on runnable ground where I tried to turn the legs quickly then took it pretty easy on the last bit of singletrack downhill.

Mostly pretty good. Getting back into the swing of eating and drinking, something I need to make sure I'm conscious of.

Running race (Race) 27:41 [4] 6.5 km (4:16 / km) +250m 3:34 / km

Didn't get there as early as planned so our warmup was running around trying to get registered. A few strides then the usual standing around doing useless stretches while the race director gives a briefing that no one can hear. Then some running, everything feeling fine other than my right shoe being a little tight, finished 5th which is pretty nice in a Scottish champs race. Forecast good for tomorrow so should get to Glencoe. Legs feel grand just now.

Cycling (Easy) 2:35:00 [2]

61k, 708m

Easy ride with my dad, bit damp.

Running (Easy) 30:00 [2] 4.4 km (6:49 / km) +176m 5:41 / km

Short one to get some hill sprints done. Twenty minutes to get warm, 4 hill sprints, jog home. A little right glute tightness on the first sprint but improved on subsequent ones.

Running (Moderate) 1:23:00 [4] 18.6 km (4:28 / km) +329m 4:06 / km

Woke up, felt tired, thought "Thank goodness today and tomorrow are easy days", checked plan, thought "bollocks".

Walked the dogx had a coffee and got out the door and legs felt fine. A little sleepy so it's nap time before work.

Mod. run questions:
- is the pace on these ok? today was 4'26" overall, you suggested 4'30" for the flat bits, implying a bit slower overall. Should I rein it in a little or if it feels fine just go with it?
- are these sufficiently hilly? The latest plan said to run some hills and run them fairly hard so should I be seeking out some bigger undulations?

Cycling (Hill reps) 2:18:00 [4]

55.4k, 1176m. 7x~7'.

They're getting faster. All but one under seven minutes (must've been that rubbing brake again) and feeling pretty controlled. Felt a little tired to begin but got into the swing of things after the first couple.

Running (Easy) 29:00 [2] 4.1 km (7:04 / km) +65m 6:33 / km

Shake out jog with the dog being a pillock. Plenty stopping, starting and jogging backwards trying to encourage her to keep up. Only 3.5 hours after bike ride probably isn't ideal but I didn't knot up at work like I did last week so maybe it did what it was supposed to.

Running (Moderate) 1:10:00 [4] 15.8 km (4:26 / km) +250m 4:06 / km

Tiring a little towards the end but all good really. S&C this afternoon.

Running (Easy) 40:00 [2] 7.2 km (5:33 / km) +104m 5:11 / km

My timetabling of Mondays sucks. Massage at 2, run cut a bit short. 3 strides done at the end as pre-massage diagnostics, everything kosher besides a little tiredness. Neck, back and shoulders were where the magic happened in the massage, probably due in part to biking.
