Running (Race) 1:22:16 [4] 8.0 km (10:17 / km) +1800m 4:50 / km

Managed to pitch my tent on a bit of a slope so not an ide night's sleep. Race went pretty well though, started further back and moved up, finished 16th. Eased enough with that against a field of specialists with intimidating norse names. 68th at a time check a few minutes in, ran the 7th fastest split for the final section, 33:26, so I think the pacing was reasonable. I maybe need to work on going a little harder. Puffed out at the finish but pretty fresh a minute or two later.

Running (Easy) 19:00 [2] 3.3 km (5:45 / km) +30m 5:30 / km

Arrived quite late so just a very short jog to counteract the effects of sitting in a car all day. Jogged with a few people from Bergen including Stian Angermund, I figured if it's good enough for him it's probably good enough for me.

Running (Threshold) 1:40:00 [4] 9.5 km (10:32 / km) +960m 7:00 / km

Had a good laugh at the notion of finding runnable trails here and decided to sub in a tempo ish run/hike up Malmangernuten. (Did you ever run Nuten Opp? Tough luck if you didn't because I don't think it happens anymore.) 18' warmup/try to find the path, 37'20" to the top, the rest signing the visitor book, taking photos and jogging down again. No noticeable niggles.

Running (Easy) 1:07:00 [2] 5.0 km (13:24 / km) +656m 8:06 / km

Warning: there may me a little creative interpretation of the plan this week.

Easy run/hike up the hill out the back if the house. 6 strides afterwards to atone for my vertical sins. They felt shite but that's mostly the effect of wet fell shoes on tarmac.

Note

Travelling to Norway: a rest day without the restful part.

Running (Easy) 32:00 [2] 5.3 km (6:02 / km) +105m 5:30 / km

Lots of Norway faff today so a slightly shorter run. Did 6 strides towards the end. They were fine, just a bit of muscle soreness alround really. Train is earlyish tomorrow so I'll probably just take the day off running, the travelling with be stressful enough as it is.

Running (Specific Endurance) 4:25:00 [3] 26.6 km (9:58 / km) +2648m 6:39 / km

Over west, not quite in Glen Coe but similar terrain. Hamstrings pretty tight after racing but not as bas as I used to get. (In 2015 I ran the Fairfield Horseshoe, drove up to my dad's, tried to get out of the car and fell over because I couldn't straighten my legs.)

I'd intended to get to some downhill fireroad towards the end to practice the change of gears that there is towards the end of the Skyline but the paths didn't quite go where I thought they did. Managed to get a kilometre or so on runnable ground where I tried to turn the legs quickly then took it pretty easy on the last bit of singletrack downhill.

Mostly pretty good. Getting back into the swing of eating and drinking, something I need to make sure I'm conscious of.
