Running race 1:06:53 [5] 17.9 km (3:44 / km) +338m 3:25 / km

Last minute decision to wear road shoes means I have a great big graze on my left hip from falling on a totally innocuous bit of fireroad. The guy that won hovered off the front for the whole race, I ran in the group behind which was 4 then 3 then 2. The guy I was left with started pulling away into the second half. For a while I thought I'd get him back on the last downhill, then I thought I wouldn't and I just wanted to be done. Maybe a little tiredness from the sessions through the week, more likely I'm just not used to running hard on the flat for so long.

Lower leg niggles were absent, as they usually are on harder runs. Glutes and hamstrings tiring towards the end but that's to be expected.

Running (Moderate) 1:20:00 [3] 18.0 km (4:27 / km) +241m 4:10 / km

Taking the race flats for spin in case I decide to use them on Saturday. Struggled a little with the rootier, muddier bits but mostly fine.

A little tired from the last few days but still felt I was running alright. Might try and have a nap before the P&C session this afternoon.

Running (Easy) 1:05:00 [2] 11.1 km (5:51 / km) +198m 5:23 / km

Lower right leg just sore enough to remind me to stay on top of it, got the wrappy uppy elastic band thing out when I got home. Fuck knows if there's any scientific basis for it but it seems to correlate with improvement. 6 strides, pretty good. Will be nice to get in the gym later and hopefully loosen the hamstrings off a bit

Note

Strength and stability circuit.

Running (Specific Endurance) 2:30:00 [4] 18.8 km (7:59 / km) +1079m 6:12 / km

A good mix of hiking, heather bashing, bush wacking and fast running, not necessarily in that order. Tight hamstrings after yesterday but they loosened off during the warm up and first few k running. Worked pretty hard for most of the run, stumbling through gorse and dead trees put a bit of a cap on the intensity towards the end. Nearly concussed myself/tore my ear off on one particular blow down. Such fun.
