Saturday May 12 #

Running (Long hill reps) 1:41:00 [4] 17.0 km (5:56 / km) +916m 4:41 / km

Cycle to hill rep hill, warm up exercises, 15' jogging about, 4 x 10' with 10' jogging back down, walk a bit, cycle to tesco, cycle home.

Didn't go nuts with the intensity, probably around threshold then going slightly harder the last 60"-120". Each rep about 1.75k and 200m. 1st was best because I was full of beans, concentration slipped a bit on the 3rd then the 4th was good. Lovely sunny day!

A splendid morning on the sofa eating lots, drinking too much coffee and reading about bullfighting.

Run was ok, sprightlier in the second half after the hill sprints. Jogging on the beach afterwards then a sink in the loch.

No Ben Lomond tomorrow. 6 hours driving on my own would just be a bit much, so I'll do the 4x10' intervals.

Running well enough, a few sticky bits and creaks. Strides started crap but ended well.

Gym, enthusiasm central! Looking forward to a day of 1 session tomorrow.

Wednesday May 9 #

Twice round Loch an Eilein. Thought this was going to be totally guff when I set off, but it panned out ok. I've some tightness under the ball of my right foot that was a bit tweaky on the hill near the start but that eases off as I get going. I'll try to get the golf ball on it before I run to loosen it off. Left quad/hip flexor stuff getting tight towards the end, must get the roller and lacrosse ball out and stay on top of that physio stuff.

Not quite back to fresh as a daisy but an improvement on yesterday, chugging along briskly enough at times. A few wee nots and tight bits, I think I slept with my left quad at a funny angle, but overall good. Hill sprints were grand, a nice change doing them on tarmac.

Monday May 7 #

As the numbers suggest, a bit of a bugger. Rooty single track, boggy single track, overgrown heathery single track, never really finding much rhythm. Falling between two stools where are he hilliness is concerned. Strides were unremarkable, felt like there was a headwind both directions.

But for all that, legs were sluggish rather than sore or hurt, I'm probably in better shape than after similar outings in previous years.

Note

Gym. Got up late after sleeping off Stuc and had a massage booked for three to booted the bike in favour of lying on the sofa. Will get it done when weather or arsedness allows.

Sunday May 6 #

41.4k, 170m.

Morning spin with my dad. Legs feeling pretty good. Work tonight so I'll be driving back up the road soon, hopefully in time to get a short jog in to loosen off the CarLegs.

Wee loosener after driving up the road. Started feeling shit, finished feeling marginally less so.
