Running (Hilly Fartlek) 1:30:00 [4] 18.2 km (4:57 / km) +530m 4:19 / km

Ran fast, didn't fall to bits. A victory, I think.

55' ish between starting first uphill effort and finishing last coasty downhill. 6 hills in all, the first 3 in the 2-3 minute range, the last 3 around 5 minutes I think. Kept it the comfortable side of comfortably hard I think. A couple of the intervals between hills were longish, one was 8 minutes I think, so some route refinement may be required. Though maybe keeping the pace slightly harder than easy means that's less important. A couple of out and backs on Meall a'Bhuachaille as padding but that's alright.

No problematic niggles. Hamstrings a little tired at the end. Leg swings afterwards.

Running (Moderate) 1:02:00 [3] 13.8 km (4:30 / km) +138m 4:17 / km

Ladies and gentlemen, vo2 max coaching proudly presents. . . something other than an easy run!!

Fairly thorough warm up, conservative start, running on undulating fireroads and a tiny bit of single-track. Some stiff bits coming and going but all settling well. Softly softly approach to the gym yesterday payibg dividends in terms of soreness.

Jay Johnson leg swing SAM stuff and foam roller afterwards.

Running (Easy ) 1:00:00 [2] 10.5 km (5:43 / km) +152m 5:20 / km

Pre breakfast jogging, a bit of an effort to drag myself out the door. A few tight bits and niggles in glutes and hamstrings but all transient. Strides improved as I went.

Note

Turns out if you give yourself time the gym can be alright. Bike and hurdles to warm up then 3 sets of pretty much everything, conservative with the weights to get back into the swing of things.

Running (Easy) 1:00:00 [2] 11.3 km (5:19 / km) +80m 5:08 / km

A marked improvement on yesterday. Tightness remains in hamstrings and glutes, ITB and a few lower leg bits. Honestly though, much better. I'll get on the strides tomorrow. More hurdles stuff in the gym with a little foam roller and stretching afterwards.

Running (Easy) 51:00 [2] 8.5 km (6:00 / km) +150m 5:31 / km

Still pretty sore. Should maybe have ridden the turbo the last couple of days. If the wind calms down a bit I might ride my bike tomorrow.

Running (Easy) 48:00 [2] 8.5 km (5:39 / km) +55m 5:28 / km

Legs a bit sore, as might be expected. Stuck to hurdles and stretching in the gym. Will do a little strength work tomorrow but keep it light while soreness persists.

Running (Race(kinda)) 2:49:00 [3] 27.0 km (6:16 / km) +1874m 4:39 / km

Ooft. Moving kind of respectably for the first 15 minutes or so then going backwards. Cold not quite gone I think, just didn't feel like I could work hard. Legs got pretty sore in the second half, though not injured sore, so that's a silver lining. I was able to run a lot of climbs that people around me were walking, though not necessarily moving that much faster than them.

Still, an 11 minute improvement on my PB from six years ago and the sun's shining.
