Running (Easy + TEs) 1:00:00 [2] 11.9 km (5:03 / km) +112m 4:49 / km
slept:8.0

Much better sleep. Only disturbed by the barking of a dog that had eaten half a Swiss roll and a box of chicken stock cubes. Must've had a hell of a thirst.

Not quite in the proscribed order. 7' running to somewhere quiet, 2xTE circuit, 44' running, 6 strides, home.

Forgot the bounding on the first set of exercises. That aside they were fine. But skips get into that right hamstring a bit. I'm sure they'll improve over the next few weeks. Feeling my calves a bit by the end of them, right one stayed a bit knotty for the rest of the run, maybe partly compounded by being unused to running on the road.

Strides were ok. Getting a bit chilly as it clouded over by legs turned over well on the last few.

Running (Easy) 1:23:00 [2] 14.0 km (5:56 / km) +392m 5:12 / km
slept:5.0

Early start, driving, ferry, dog walking, swimming pool with a 7 year old and a 4 year, felt zapped. I had today and tomorrow the wrong way round in my head, checked it before I went out the door and by then lacked the cognitive power to memorise the TEs, so just swapped today and tomorrow.

No warm up except chasing children around, a sunny evening trip up Wideford and a couple of laps of the boggy loop at the top. Not as easy as might be on a few uphills but maintaining a therapeutic pace. Just nice to get some calm for an hour and a bit. Might get the road shoes on to avoid so much climb tomorrow.

No niggles.

Turbo (Easy ) 1:20:00 [2]

Some quality garage time. Feeling a little sub par so taking it easy. Varying the cadence and resistance a little, in and out of the saddle. Hamstrings taking their time coming round.

Getting to the business end of season 6 of the Sopranos. It ain't looking good for Tony.

Note

Gym Session
I'd say this was half arsed but that would probably be overstating my enthusiasm. Felt dead stored beforehand, almost skipped it entirely. 2 sets of each exercise with very little weight, mostly just trying not to forget how they a work. Felt pretty wiped after some stuff.

Like the snow, if I am coming down with something it's fortunate timing. If I get grotty over the weekend I'll back off and take it very easy.

Running (Easy) 1:02:00 [2] 11.0 km (5:38 / km) +139m 5:18 / km

Slushy, shitty trails. Drills and lunges in my room before going out. The expected day after a massage process of running a selection of transient knots and niggles out of my legs. Mostly the usual suspects with a brief guest appearance of something in my right shin. Nothing particularly troublesome.

Strides on the road. Both hamstrings a little tight but once I got into them they were fine.

Running (Easy) 57:00 [2] 10.0 km (5:42 / km) +70m 5:30 / km

No real warming up, just going cautiously in the first few k. Loosened off reasonably well. Quads know they've had a beating and there's a knot in my left hamstring but overall things were ok.

Massage afterwards. We had a Dorling Kindersley thing on our computer when I was wee, a big cross section of an old sailing ship where you could zoom into different bits and it would tell you stuff about what was going on. Being an 8 year old I was inevitably fascinated by the doctor's cabin where amputations were performed with a swallow of run, a belt and a saw. The noises that the patients made on that program were pretty similar to the noises I was making today as Kirsty got her thumbs into my medial quads just above the knee.

Turbo (Easy) 50:00 [2]

Watching the Sopranos and spinning the legs. Quads aren't liking walking down through the garden to the house today, but overall decent considering I raced 64 k on Saturday.

Massage tomorrow. Will spin or jog beforehand, depending on how the quads settle down.

Note

Travel Day
2 lifts to Aviemore, preferable to sitting on the train and hanging around Edinburgh for hours. A wee walk in the woods when I got back. I think my legs might hurt tomorrow.
