Balmedie Blue - overall not too pleased with how i was navigating, seemed to struggle a lot today but still kinda had fun. The mapping and sand storms didn’t help, but i was so scrappy in the control circles and for a lot of the controls didn’t have a plan/picture my route. I was just being lazy and not properly looking at the finer contour detail which resulted in running straight for a bit and then getting lost in the control circle. But to be fair it was really difficult to see what was even going on in the control circle cos the contours are so messy. Up at the northern end i got destroyed by the sand blowing, had to use my map for protection instead of navigation.

Solo glen dye O - It was hard to find a course that didn’t go into the clear felled bit :( so mix and matched a couple courses together. Kept it steady and focusing on having a full plan for the whole leg and knowing what i was looking for to keep it flowy. Found a forgotten O flag which was actually at one of my controls.

Scolty dnc - taking it steady, not slow but not fast. Not convinced c1 was in the right place, lost 2 minutes faffing. c2 was hesitant coming in as it felt i had gone too far. Was pleased with my plan and execution of c4, using the wall and then ride in the green and then contouring round, but should of had a stronger picture of the circle as i thought it was on the crags. 6 was good, kept the right height, crossed the top of the reentrant parallel to the path and pinged right into the control. 7 good. 8 should of got onto the bottom track sooner as it was hard running. 9 good. 10 i was just slow and tripping over every bit of brashing. 11 big track leg again, came off the stream junction, good compass aiming slightly right to hit the wee path and then into control. Torch died at 12 so had moment of panic but yonas saved me with a very smooth changeover to his backup. 1min off joe and 1min in front of jon, potentially my best dnc long result ever? Nvii dobs were impaling my feet on the two long track legs.

DR 5x4min (2min) on the green. Took it a notch down from usual interval effort as it’s been a while since i’ve ran fast/hard. Aimed to just keep the same effort and pace throughout all the reps. L hamstring was getting pingy on the last rep, probably from gym, so didn’t do the 6x30s. Great to catch up everyone.

Recovery ride - Craiglash and brathens. Weather was absolutely stunning, barely any wind and in a t shirt! Turns out it was only 9° but felt like summer. Taking it nice and slow, never pushing as i want my leggies to be fresh for DR ints tomorrow, it’s been a while.
