super rainy orienteering at st. edward state park! tried out my new running hoodie and bob said i looked like a speed skater as i got to the start. :P

not my greatest course, but i had a good time and did manage not to be the last person on the course - hooray!

i think the trails-only aspect threw me for a loop in that some of the controls were more hidden than i was expecting, so i had a bit of trouble with quite a number of them. biggest mistake was starting down trail headed to lake washington, getting a quarter of the way down, checking map and realizing i was on the wrong one... arrrrgh... turned around, went back up the way i had just come and got myself on the right one. boo. need to work on my map folding and checking techniques! the two controls by the lake were really messing with me so i wasted a bunch of time there and then it was a trudge all the way back up to the finish area.

still had fun being out in the beautiful woods and tromping through mud and the new hoodie worked great! yahoo!

first time on a bike trainer! rode 2 loops on the island of watopia in zwift. :P

cooler than i thought it was going to be. thought i would take it easy but then started feeling competitive with the people around me who i kept leapfrogging with. also the way they incorporate segments into the bike course finally started making sense partway through the ride, so i tried harder on the last two. definitely sweating by the end!

can see how this could be a fun way to get into cycling shape when it's nasty weather out. the zwift interface makes it not as mindlessly boring to not actually be going anywhere. also pretty cool that i get to ride my own bike that's already sized for me! :)
