Orienteering 2:00:00 [2]

This was my first experience with orienteering and I had no idea what I was in for. When we arrived at the park we were split up into pairs. We started with a simple course where the more advanced orienteers would help guide the people who where new to orienteering through a simple path. After, we all met at the end and reflected about what we learned from the course and orienteering in general. Then, we split up to pairs again with different people to actually run through a new course. But, the courses each partner got were different. The more advanced orienteer would have to go to double the amount of checkpoints as the less advanced orienteer. This lead to the beginner having to one checkpoint while the expert would have to hit one checkpoint and meet up with the beginner to punch into a joint checkpoint. It was a great experience trying to navigate myself through the woods while running to win the race against the other pairs. Me and my partner Kristen got in second place trailing the team that got in first place. In conclusion, this first experience with orienteering was a great one of which I enjoyed every second of it and i hope to do it again!
