Ran most of the BillyGoat. I had to stop because I had killer blisters and was very dehydrated.
1 to 2 was with AJ and doing pretty good. Dropped Aj on 3. Missed the trail connection going to 4 and veered way off. Really not sure how I spiked 4 after that because I really didn't notice how far off the line I was. Five was pretty easy, saw a bear which is why I suddenly change direction and slowed down when I was going along the marsh. 6 I stood next to the control for about 30 seconds wondering where I was. Feet were starting to hurt by seven and I didn't want to climb anymore so I decided to take the road, which was just such a bad route choice. I realized this way too late in the leg and was afraid I was going to have to backtrack the entire leg if I couldn't get over the fence (also apparently its legal to cross double hashed fences on non-sprint maps, who knew). After seven I was really out of it and could barely run, so speed slows down significantly. No huge mistakes until 12, just really slow-moving and slightly off bearings. Going to 12 was where I really lost it. I was super tired from the 1000 foot climb, very dehydrated and my feet were killing me. It got so bad that I had to stop and sit on a rock for a minute or two. This is where I decided that I was not going to finish but was still not sure what I would skip. This also led to my slight mistake. 13 was all downhill and I had just taken a break so I tried to run but my feet hurt too much. When I hit thirteen I stopped running and decided to just walk to 17, 18, and the finish. On the way to 17, I noticed 18 was in a lake and I was not up for swimming so I decided to just finish. I am fairly disappointed that I didn't finish but happy with my navigation. I was going pretty slow for most of the course but still I had no huge mistakes. I am a little concerned about my physical strength because while the blisters were the reason I stopped I was also really tired just 2/3 of the way through not sure if I could have finished anyways.
