Running (out of date) race 39:09 [4] 10.0 km (3:55 / km) +130m 3:41 / km

Lothian trail 10k.

First time racing 10k and it showed, had no idea how to pace it but thought I'd gone off slow. Turns out it was too fast and died hard on kilometres 4,6 and 7. Thought I was getting back into it on the fast downhill 5th km but actually that probably killed it off.

Very fun if painful, and first U20 was nice, but absolutely devastated to see the watch only record 9.99k.

Note

Fond farewell to the offensively orange 190 X-talons when the tape broke after 3.5k. Didn't bother with any post-race sole searching.

shoes: Asics GT-1000 5 (heavies)

Nice sunny run around mortonhall with various financial documents getting ruined in the back pocket after a 'quick' stop at the bank, who wanted photocard ID, more photocard ID, and proof of who I am...
4 PM

Note

New shoe report: fine.

Running (out of date) 20:20 [4] 4.8 km (4:14 / km) +50m 4:02 / km
shoes: Asics GT-1000 5 (heavies)

Hectic day so this was all I could fit in having originally planned an attempt at 18km in 1hr 8. This training week has totally fallen apart :/

On the bright side the new shoes feel as good as they always do

Sprint-O 30:57 [4] 6.0 km (5:10 / km) +20m 5:04 / km

Dunbar sprintELOpe.

Not good stuff. Training has slightly fallen off a cliff in the last few days but legs still weren't feeling amazing, once knee and shin pain had died down started making nasty nav errors, and got caught by Dad at #6. Poor route choices and more mistakes/not seeing the flour patches on the ground meant I couldn't get away. Luckily the course moved into easier long legs towards the end so I could open up enough of a gap to not get beaten, but needed every metre at the end to make up the lost time.

:/

Note
(rest day)

Bit lazy although can't be bad news for the shins...
But let's be honest this is down to the horrific weather.

Down to run and become and then testing out some new shoes in time for the sale.
Turns out asics haven't changed anything since last time so just got the same pair again.
