Varsity 'relay'.

The mood wasn't right for a real relay, so just 3 consecutive mass starts. Ran poorly, loads of mistakes and the nav isn't there. Good to be out though and quite good fun trying to catch Ben

Varsity - mispunched

Legs felt really heavy before starting, and didn't go well off the start with small misses and then moving slowly through the heather. Got caught by Harrison at 8, and then felt pretty good to be gaining time on what seemed like a really nice line through the terrain. It was a really good route, and I'd nearly cut the gap by 10 but turns out its much easier to cut a gap on the eventual course winner if you don't do the course he's winning.

Ended in just over 53min, which would've been a respectable time if I'd been to 9, but not great. Clearly the fitness is not up to scratch, but also not as far off as I thought. Mercifully we would have lost regardless of my mispunch, so not a great saturday all around.

ran to Sheffield for a CD. Trying to figure out how much further I'd have to run if we were on track to win

Felt a bit too good after sports massage so went for a short track progression, just cos it was there really.

Running tempo 37:02 [4] 9.2 km (4:02 / km) +20m 3:59 / km

Slower TNT this week. Didn't want to push too hard with varsity at the weekend, so let the main group go ahead and then upped the pace to where it was comfortable. Then 4 x 100m strides on the track and home.

Return to Tuesday Churchill sessions. 8*(3' [1'])
Felt really good given how unfit I should be, few twinges here and there but definitely the right decision to get out and do this session. Shame these are over soon and they're gonna make me do silly things on a track...

Running 12:14 [3] 2.23 km (5:29 / km) +10m 5:22 / km
shoes: VJ Bold 8

4 x hill sprint with a very East Anglian emphasis on the 'sprint'.

Then a figure-of-eight cool-down to minimise time spent not writing essays and maximise time spent being really impressed that Rob was still banging out 3min reps

4 PM

Running 50:00 [3] 11.9 km (4:12 / km) +20m 4:10 / km
shoes: Asics GT-1000 5

Really struggled to get out for this, and having made myself late thought I might as well not bother, but 5k in started to feel pretty good. Unfit, and the shins are there, but its definitely time to push on and train again. Didn't garmin but the standard Grantchester loop is pretty well ingrained now.

Beginning to get the appetite for the shameless pancake-fest that's about to happen...
6 PM

S&C 10:00 [3]

S+C to make sure I didn't arrive at Harey pancakes on time because that would just be plain rude
